Have lived in the area for ages but this was my first visit inside Cranbrook House. We did a self guided tour but there were docents in every room to answer questions and give a little history on the family and the decor. The details in the wood carvings, the high end materials used in construction, and the influence of the artisans that were commissioned to create the decor pieces left us in awe. The gardens are amazing. The Japanese garden was magical. Take the time to discover all the grounds but wear comfortable shoes as you will definitely get your steps in as you wander the trails. Absolutely will be going back soon!
Stunning grounds! We missed touring the house. The complex is rather large. The Japanese Garden is lovely. We didn't get to see everything, but we plan on coming back! Definitely a must see if in the area
Cranbrook was a lovely surprise. The gardens are gorgeous and the whole experience was free. It is worth the trip outside the city. Nice easy drive and the grounds are huge.
Great place to take photos First time coming here. Not bad. The building is outdated. The garden is beautiful! Pools is nice. Well done. The place could use a little cleaning up. They do have a gift shop. Free parking and free entry. The place needs a little love. Good place for taking pictures or weddings. Recommend
One of my favorite place to take a walk! The house looks beautiful along with the surrounding gardens. Love to visit often.
I really enjoyed our walk here, the japanese garden was my personal favorite. Beautiful garden and beautiful home. Next time I'll bring a picnic basket and have lunch!
One of my favourite places to go. It’s so beautiful and has so many plant varieties, fountains, statues, and wildlife. If you’re planning to go make sure you’re ready for all the walking, it’s quite large. You could easily spend two hours walking around and still have more to look at.
The Cranbrook House, an Arts and Crafts-style masterpiece designed by Albert Kahn for the founders of Cranbrook Educational Community, George and Ellen Booth. . Incredible vistas at every turn, the relaxing melody of water streaming out of iconic fountains, the comforting smell of flowers in many remarkable gardens, the feeling of the rich history, exceptional craftmanship, and architectural wonder all around you... just a taste of what awaits at Cranbrook House & Gardens.
A really nice place to wander around and enjoy the gardens. Many nooks and crannys to admire. Lots of walking trails to explore.
This is one of my favorite gardens to come to yearly. I love how the sunken garden is different from year to year. Such a well maintained and beautiful space. I love the statues placed all over as well. The Japenese gardens are also so lovely for tranquility. This is a must see and must go place garden wise.
