We were unexpectedly & happily stunned by the new Crescent Bar. Bright and trendy atmosphere, super clean- not dark & dingy. The food is world's apart and way better than expected!! We started with the house salad & French onion soup. Pretty good. The soup was as French onion should be but lacked salt. Salad was great We followed with the porkchop & half chicken. YUM. Large portions- like enough for later- and great flavors. The menu was wintery and hearty. I love loved all the mushrooms paired with the roasted chicken. Literally a whole new experience for The Crescent. Please go & Enjoy!
So much lighter brighter and cleaner than the old crescent we remember! The food is also fabulous. They have a very creative upscale bar menu. The steak was one of the best I have ever had, not exaggerating! They really need to improve the seating stat. The chairs are not comfortable at all, and some lower tables would also be helpful. The lighting could use some interest and softening but the decor is still a work in progress and improving all the time. The green walls are a big help. I’m excited to use the patio area this summer and enjoy some events in the back bar area. This place has a lot of potential, especially if they make it more comfortable to hang out for awhile!
Great bar, pretty chill atmosphere and good food and drinks. Feels clean and fresh, especially compared to the last bar in this location which was really divey.
The owners really cleaned the place up with new flooring and decor, however the food was very lackluster. I got the chicken caesar wrap and it seemed to be about the quality of one you may buy from a gas station. My father got the hot chicken and biscuit and one of the pieces of chicken was raw in the middle. The waiter was really awesome, but after all of that they only comped the bill 25%. I have never seen someone served raw chicken in a Boise restaurant before, especially on a really slow weekday lunch. The staff handled it graciously but unfortunately I don’t think I would return for anything besides drinks on their new patio.
Decided to visit 2 days in a row to give a an objective review. On a Saturday at 1pm it was slow, pick your own seat; love it! Sat in the area with lots of amazing light near the outdoor patio; great atmosphere. Ordered the prime rib sandwich, it was good but the fries were hard and cold. Came in the next day, with a party of 10 at opening; 10AM. The staff of 1.5 was amazing. Food was good, 2 plates came out much later than the rest. Was told when ordering that they were not allowed to have a sandwich cut in half and no side substitutes. Ordered bottomless mimosas for 3 in the party, had to ask for every refill. Needed more staff to accommodate all the large brunch guests. If you want to advertise high end food, you must ensure high end service. We want to return since this business is in our area. Hope the feedback will assist in this establishment becoming a high end place to eat.
Been waiting a long to check remodeled place out, and was sorely disappointed. My cheeseburger was raw. I wasn't even asked how I wanted it cooked. The Ceasars Salad was blah. Tasted like bagged lettuce. My husband had finger steak dinner and came home starving. Very small potions. I do not recommend this place.
Unfortunately, I think they missed the mark on this. A bit of an overreach on menu sophistication and pricing for a pub. Nachos are potato chips with sauerkraut and corned beef? App of three soft pretzels is $14. Four pieces of bread with cheese is $14. I mean, they are good pretzels and bread/cheese but $14? Right or wrong, they have the legacy of Crescent bar and they are tied to it by maintaining the Crescent name and keeping a pub decor and feel. The menu is upscale and the food is pretty tasty but it is very high priced and just does not fit with the location, decor, legacy, and pub atmosphere. Additionally, the chairs are extremely uncomfortable metal chairs with very small seat sizes. It may have its place but just feels like a round peg in a square hole. I will say that servers were very attentive and pleasant.
Food was not good, but staff acknowledged our situation and was apologetic. Hoping they can improve on the menu, very bland. Otherwise a very nice clean place to hang out with a lot of TVs. I did not like the chairs, they are not comfortable.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: Yes
This is the old Crescent No Lawyers Bar. It’s been redesigned and thankfully they saved the outdoor area with the horseshoe pits. However, I’m not a fan of the new look. Grey floors and uncomfortable metal chairs. They also closed off the right half of the old space maybe for a bigger kitchen. So its a much smaller place. First the good stuff. Our server was very nice and tried very hard. Not the most proficient but engaging. The pretzel appetizer was really good. Three soft pretzel rods with spicy mustard and Guinness beer cheese dips. They had a decent selection of beers and they were reasonably cold. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 of us ordered the Nashville hot chicken. It looks appealing on the menu in its own box. But do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. It’s terrible from top to bottom. It’s served on a “biscuit” that’s more like a Pillsbury pop out biscuit think thin that’s cut in half and drenched with aioli and coleslaw and then topped with the chicken. Oh the chicken. First, its not spicy. It’s a deep fried breast that has a ton of rock hard breading on it. And, unfortunately, not tasty breading. It’s bland and overwhelms the breast which is over cooked I guess that is why the breading was so hard. With this load, the biscuit soon turned to mush. It’s a nasty, greasy dish that should be avoided. Our fourth was luckier/smarter and ordered a hamburger I think its called The Crescent Burger. He’s said it was fine. I can’t comment any further. Both dishes came with fries and fry sauce. The fries were thin and reasonably tasty and the fry sauce was okay. It was difficult to get some ketchup since it must be procured from the kitchen in a small container no bottles on the tables. One other thing that I noticed on the menu is that fish and chips here is fish and potato chips. What? When I order fish and chips I expect fish and French fries. Not a bag of potato chips! The desserts looked possibly tasty but I can’t comment since we didn’t order any. I was hoping for something good in this Bench neighborhood pub. Perhaps they will get their food act together they opened recently. Or maybe there are other things on the menu that they do well. Unfortunately I don’t think that I’ll be back. At least any time soon.
I was visiting from S.F. & my son was anxious to try the "No Lawyers" restaurant since it had reopened under new management. He's a lawyer in Boise. Truly, it was not worth the wait. There were only 3 regular height tables, 1 of which was already taken by an elderly couple. All the others were bar height. The menu looked interesting, but neither of the entrees we ordered were consistent with basic recipes. The beef stroganoff had no sour cream & the chicken on a biscuit was so blackened that it couldn't be reached without a sharp knife.
