Focusing on developing a life of discipleship through the personal application of God's Word to one's life. (1Tim 4:6-16)
Paul's inspired words to Timothy in 1 Tim 4:6-16 in essence say to train yourself for godliness, be trained in words of faith and in sound doctrine, command and teach these things, and be an example in your speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity through the personal application of Scripture. He says to devote yourself to God's Word, then exhort, teach, and practice these things and, in persisting, others will also be equipped for a devoted life of discipleship to Christ, our Lord.
This is my motivation and my heart, but it is not mine alone. Christ, the mystery of godliness, is the One in me and in you - in Paul and in Timothy - who by His grace compels all true discipleship, discipline, and spiritual growth. Godliness is grace-granted, not self-generated, however it must be lived out through conduct consistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
By virtue of the Gospel, all of us who believe already share in His godliness. The Christian's greatest ambition is to seek to experience the power of the Gospel in our own souls, and to bring forth its fruits in our lives; to live out the amazing realities and so become like Christ.
I hope through my writing you will be reminded and awakened to these realities and so intentionally orient your life around the Written Word and the Living Word for the spreading of the Gospel and the salvation of souls.
"For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people... persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers." (1 Tim 4:10, 16)
