Crossed Sabres Ranch was established in 1898 as the first operating dude ranch in the state of Wyoming. Conveniently located 8 miles from the East entrance of Yellowstone, and only 40 miles from historic Cody, WY, the Ranch is surrounded by millions of acres of pristine wilderness. We offer a variety of cabin options to fit your needs. You can spend your time relaxing or you can plan to participate in numerous activities such as daily horseback rides that will keep you, your family or group entertained during your stay. We had the best vacation at Crossed Sabres in June 2023. Despite a bit of rain and mud, everyone was a cowboy or cowgirl by the end of the week. Kenny and Laura Long and their wranglers allowed us to be part of their family for the week. We had wonderful horseback rides, rafting, rodeo visit, great meals, square dancing, and lots of other activities. No one wanted to leave when the week was over. We highly recommend Cross Sabres if you are looking for a fun dude ranch vacation. Rooms: Cabins are wonderful, cozy, and comfortable.
I have never been on a dude ranch and was on the Yellowstone tip so we decided to disconnect for a week and made it to Cross Acres late one rainy night where Kenny Long the owner of the ranch was waiting for us at the airport. we should've known right there what a different experience this was going to be. We are city people from Miami and After the first full day we became part of the long family! The Family that runs this ranch has one goal and one only, that their guests have the most amazing experience possible. From rearranging itineraries according to the weather, to having the best home cooked meals in the dining room, this was an experience of a lifetime. All the views, horseback riding and countless other outdoor activities were beyond what we expected. The rest of the college age staff was also equally as welcoming and we will forever be part of the Cross Sabres family.
Best vacation EVER. Guests are treated like royalty and family at the same time. So many activities. The horses were great! The FOOD was out of this world! Homemade cookies all the time!Rooms: 5/5
Best vacation of a lifetime! The Longs are so sweet and accommodating very special people! Staff so friendly, professional and caring. We felt like family there. The food was phenomenal, Chad & Susie do a great job. The week flew by, lots to do check out their website too much to list here and it's a very special part of our country. Special thanks to Madi head wrangler, Keegan & Nick fishing guides & Carrington hiking guide for our day. Also, Hunter who puts out an outstanding video & picture package. The staff work so hard to make your stay the best possible. They have great friendly personalities; Emily gets the bubbliest personality award. Wow, it IS a trip of a lifetime! I was in awe of the beauty of the location and it’s surrounding area. Laura and Kenny share their knowledge and love of the West in an unforgettable experience. The week is full of well planned activities and entertainment with superb service. The Wranglers and guides were so personable and well trained in their area of expertise. I learned how to fly fish and caught a huge rainbow trout! We got to try so many new experiences and got the true feel of the West! My family loved the half day pack ride to the top of the mountain and a picnic lunch with their horses. And the food… was delicious! My 11 year old daughter and 13 year old son want to come back. We enjoyed getting to know the other families there and made new friends. You get an intimate experience with Crossed Sabres. They open their home to you and treat you like family! Thank you for having us!
We felt like family as soon as we stepped foot on the property. It exceeded our expectations. Our family or 16 had such a joyous time together. You can participate in all or none of the activities... food was wonderfully tasty and more than generous. We LOVED every minute we were there even if we had sore muscles. Kenny and Laura, family, and staff were filled with care, concern, and were most gracious. We made memories forever.
One of the best family vacations we've had! We felt like family as soon as we stepped foot on the property. Riding horses, hiking, fishing, archery, ax throwing, trip to Yellowstone - these were amazing experiences! Our favorite part of each day was sitting down to home cooked meals and sharing stories from the day with the other guests and the staff! Breathtaking scenery and because the ranch is tucked high up in the mountains there is no wifi - which was a beautiful gift for our family! Our 15 year old had so much fun, she forgot all about her phone and went running out the cabin each morning ready to ride the trails! The cabins are comfortable and cozy and all the staff are welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Thank you Kenny and Laura - you go above and beyond to make Crossed Sabres Ranch an exceptional experience!
Yet again Crossed Sabres Ranch delivered a perfect experience! This was a repeat vacation from five years ago for our large family of 20 ranging in age from 4 to 84. The Long family and staff saw to it that everyone had a great time and offered a wide variety of experiences that all of us could enjoy. One of the best vacations we've ever had! Lots to do horse riding, fishing, hiking, trips to Yellowstone and a rodeo, skeet shooting...you name it, fantastic food, incredible people they really make you feel like family!. Beautiful area. They really do things right. And they keep you moving I couldn't believe the week was over when we left. Can't recommend this enough! Definitely work the trip!
