Meredith Curnutte obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, Summa Cum Laude, in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma in 2004. She earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2007. Following graduation from law school, Ms. Curnutte began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office. She worked in the misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony divisions and served as the Director of White Collar Crime before leaving in 2011 to work for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Attorney General’s Office. She returned to the District Attorney’s Office later that year to serve as the Director of Misdemeanors, where she worked until 2016. As Director of Misdemeanors, Ms. Curnutte supervised multiple lawyers and oversaw every misdemeanor case and traffic ticket filed in Tulsa County. Apart from her first case, Ms. Curnutte obtained guilty or delinquent verdicts in every case she put before a jury. She also handled numerous non-jury trials, preliminary hearings, and evidentiary hearings. District Attorney Tim Harris named her the 2008 Outstanding Misdemeanor Prosecutor, the 2009 Outstanding Juvenile Prosecutor, and a 2010 Top Gun Trial Lawyer. In 2012, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt named her as the Oklahoma Prosecutor of the Year for Action in Excellence Against Domestic Violence. After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Curnutte worked at a local firm where she practiced in various areas of the law. While at the firm, she defended clients charged with crimes ranging from reckless driving to murder and represented clients in general civil matters and family court.
