CYNTHIA-REEVES represents artists who share a process-apparent sensibility in their art, and demonstrate an innovative use of materials in diverse media.
CYNTHIA-REEVES represents an international roster of established artists who share a process-apparent sensibility in their art. We are committed to artwork that demonstrates an authentic voice, an innovative use of materials and an appreciation of the mark in diverse media: site-based installation, video, sculpture, painting and works on paper. A sub-text to the gallery’s program is artwork that provokes a discourse around the convergence of art and science, as well as our relationship to the natural world – a discourse essential to the examination of contemporary art and culture within the context of these broader challenges.
The gallery exhibits internationally at leading contemporary art fairs in all major cities, including New York, San Francisco, Miami, London and Hong Kong. We are committed to an on-going dialog with curators, institutions and collectors worldwide, to amplify the visibility of our artists and the gallery's programming to a global audience. Our international reach runs parallel to the many museums worldwide that have featured our artists -- institutions such as the White Box Museum Beijing, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Rice University Museum, the Nevada Museum of Art, the Montgomery Museum, the New Britain Museum, The Cranbrook Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, London, The Chinese Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, the Smithsonian, the DeCordova Museum, MA, among many others.
Through our two gallery locations, we present twelve or more curated exhibitions each year, and work closely with writers, scholars and critics to support those exhibitions with published catalogs. Feature articles and reviews appear in many of the industry’s top publications: The New York Times, Sculpture Magazine, The Art Newspaper, The Smithsonian Magazine, The Boston Globe, Art New England, Art Papers, in addition to art criticism online.
The gallery has organized permanent acquisitions of significant site-based installations in such locations as the Financial Center in New York City; a science complex in Philadelphia, a genome research center in Cambridge, as well as corporate headquarters, luxury properties, and academic institutions in Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Las Vegas, Boston, New York, Miami, Hong Kong, and other locations worldwide.
We proudly acknowledge our artists as Venice Biennale exhibitors, Guggenheim recipients, Joan Mitchell Award winners, TED presenters, candidates for the MacArthur, and top award winners of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, among other prestigious acknowledgements from the art community at large.
CYNTHIA-REEVES PROJECTS is a forum for off-site and collaborative projects done in concert with partner galleries and non-profit organizations, including museum exhibitions and other platforms that bring our artists’ works to the attention of a broader audience. Due to our strong focus on sculptural works, we are actively involved with public art projects in the United States and abroad, helping to facilitate installations of large-scale works in the public domain. Our most recent partners include The Hudson River Park Trust, the Union Square Association, and NYC Parks. As a way of expanding the gallery model, we initiated a number of innovative, off-site projects, which provide us the opportunity to curate significant exhibitions, and focus on specific and timely issues and/or artists’ works.
Additionally, the gallery has organized permanent acquisition of significant site-based installations in such locations as the Financial Center in New York City; a science center in Philadelphia, a luxury hotel in Las Vegas, a genome research center in Cambridge, as well as corporate headquarters and academic institutions in Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Boston, New York, Miami, and locations worldwide.
