Wrote a review a while ago and realized it never uploaded! Anyway, a year and almost 3 months ago, we came to see a 8 week old ginger kitten. We fell in love with her immediately and she has brought so much joy to our family. Since coming home, she’s established herself as the alpha cat and protector of the house. They take great care of their animals in this shelter and I wholly recommend you coming here to meet your new best friend! Enjoy the compilation of our beautiful Kiki originally Kelly from 8 weeks to 1 year, 3 month!
I just picked up a good girl from this shelter. I won't ding them more than a star, but only because it's a shelter with a noble purpose, a couple of the employees were very kind, and I was approved. But I hope they read this and attempt to improve. Some employees were pleasant, a couple were not and never smiled in what should be a very happy occasion. They wanted me to bring my two puppers for a meet and greet, which is understandable. The problem was it was in 100 degree heat. I had to carry so as not to burn their paws on the asphalt my two pups, one at a time, into their non-air-conditioned greeting room. I had to leave my car unlocked and running during this process. Within 5 minutes of entering this room, they were stressed and nearly hyperventilating. Though they weren't perfect, I am amazed they behaved as well as they did when meeting a new dog. Regardless, we were fortunately approved and as I filled out paperwork that was being printed, copied and shuffled, I watched through the glass as my pups continued to overheat in their cell. It took more than 20 minutes. I rushed as fast as I could to get them back into my air-conditioned vehicle once they brought our new family member to the front. An employee held her leash near the door as I rushed to secure my pups in my vehicle, but I apparently was taking too long. Before I could stop her, she prematurely trotted my new overweight, short nosed and easily overheated pup out across the 120 degree plus pavement, doing exactly the thing I was panicking to avoid. I am still stunned over it. One of my pups did indeed suffer heatstroke from this process; he isn't eating, and he is barely hobbling around. He is fortunately recovering, but it should never have happened. 1. Streamline the process. 2. Use an air-conditioned greeting room. 3. Don't trot animals across hot asphalt and warn those who are visiting not to either. It literally burns their paws. Veterinarian offices are filled with the victims.
We adopted two of our dogs here 5 years ago, we adopted them around July 4th so my license is always up around that time. I prefer that because they I don't have to see people giving up there pets yet this last time I went there was a lady arguing with the staff about taking her poor, scared dog. It's one reason I can't stand going to any shelter, seeing people discard their pets, it's horrible. But staff were nice and I've never had an issue with them. Adopt don't shop, and if you can't make it a lifetime commitment, do not get a pet!
I was so not looking forward to having to go here to get my dog license. But when I arrived it was not at all what I expected, first everyone at the front were super friendly. The gentleman who helped me was helpful and explained everything. Not only that but he got me taken care of in about 5 minutes. While I was there another party were being helped by another person and from what I overheard was going the extra mile to ensure they were getting the right animal and was being patient and super helpful with the whole process. After I was done I went and visited the animals there and while seeing any animal there is heartbreaking the entire place looked super clean and honestly had no smell. Even saw a pig for the first time at a shelter. Anyhow, if you're in town make a stop here to say hi to the animals and if you need to do business here don't expect to be there long as they are fast.
absolutely DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. THEY EUTHANIZED DOGS EVERYDAY! THERE ARE VIDEOS AND EVIDENCE TO PROVE. IT IS NOT OK. STOP. KILLING. THESE. BABIES. LET. PEOPLE. FIND. MORE. TIME. TO. FIND. HOMES. FOR. THEM. YOU PEOPLE ARE HEARTLESS. #JUSTICE FOR DOGS
Do not support this shelter. So many dogs are killed here and are not even given a chance to live. Only 20% of dogs make it out. This place is morally horrific and the staff couldn’t care less. Don’t bring any animals here, some other innocent dog will be murdered to make space.
The animals here have been done a great disservice under the poor leadership of current shelter director. Many rescues refuse to deal with this shelter due to the nonsense and unethical practices of both shelter director and rescue coordinator - TIME FOR CHANGE - their childish antics make them the laughing stock of all rescue - SHAME ON YOU!
This “shelter” is a front for animal hoarding. They neglect their animals while refusing to adopt 90% of them out. This shelter either needs to be shut down or needs completely new staff and ownership. Only people who actually care about animals should work in shelters and rescues. I would give 0 stars if I could.
Disgusting. You guys should not run a shelter if you can’t even provide proper notice of a euthanasia list so people can save these dogs. You’re euthanizing 6 month old PUPPIES.
They don’t actually want to adopt animals out or do their legit jobs to help animals find homes. They’d rather KILL them and tell people looking to save a life “They’re not listed”. Do better. BRANDY. KRISTEN. GINA.
