Daland Swim School is a two-pool learn-to-swim facility in Thousand Oaks, California. Its mission is to teach students of all ages and abilities to be safe, confident and happy swimmers for life.
Daland Swim School offers lessons to all ages and abilities.
All babies love the water! Our Baby and Me class is a 30 minute course designed for children 6 to 24 months of age. A parent or guardian must be in the water with the child for the entire duration of the class. In this lesson, the babies learn basic survival skills in and around the pool. They will develop elemental techniques that are taught more in depth in our private lessons.
Our private lessons start around 18 months, or when the student can run. This 20 minute lesson is a one-on-one class with one of our trained instructors. Private lessons allow the instructor to address the specific needs of the student.
Group/semi-private lessons are available to students who are confident and happy swimmers. Students are placed into group lessons according to age as well as ability. These classes are focused on learning and refining strokes. Our most advanced group lesson is directed towards preparing the student for stroke clinic and swim team.
Once students can perform all four strokes, they are ready for stroke clinic. The instructor will work on all four strokes, but will concentrate on one or two specific skills each lesson. This class is for students who are not quite ready for the novice swim team, or for swimmers who would like to perfect certain strokes.
The swim team at Daland Swim School is a year-round program. There are four levels of team based on ability. Students must know all four strokes to be eligible. Try-outs are mandatory for anyone interested in joining any level of swim team. Students on team will have the opportunity to participate in various swim meets throughout the year.
