Danny Edwards Famous Kansas City Barbecue

My husband and I decided to design our own Kansas City barbecue tour, and boy am I glad we stopped at Danny Edwards BLVD! We arrived around opening and were among the first guests for the day. The owners are so generous and friendly. Joel is the owner along with his wife, whose name I didn't get. She showed us the pit and told us they smoke with hickory and oak. Joel worked with Danny Edwards for 15 years before buying the joint in 2019 and he hasn't commercialized in the same way other famous KC BBQ places have. We had the sampler platter of brisket, pork belly and jalapeno cheddar sausage and the Big D, a brisket sandwich topped with onion rings featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The sauce has an incredible balance between sweet, spicy and smokey. YUM! The sides were spicy beans and jambalaya. They gave us the recipe to the jambalaya, and we hope we can replicate it because it was out of this world good. Everything we tried was fantastic. We're going to be talking about this place and our whole experience for quite some time.

This is a great place to try if you love BBQ. Parking is easy and the dining area is spacious. I thought the food portions were large and the special for lunch was a good price. They have a unique BBQ sauce that makes the food stand apart from similar establishments. Overall I recommend you give it a try.Food: 4/5

There's just no way it gets any better than this. I've toured the states for great BBQ and Joel at Danny Edwards does it best. Brisket is insane. The Big D I got it on a bun is simply the greatest sandwich of any kind I've ever had. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, juicy and loaded with flavor. Just doesn't get any better. Thank you to Joel and his wife for the incredible food and service!!

First-time eating here and let me tell you they didn't disappoint. I had the large pork sandwich and they gave me enough pulled pork to make another sandwich. The pork was very tender and favorable. The sauce was on point...sweet and spicy. I even enjoyed the fries. Well done and truly a treasure in KCFood: 5/5

Let's get this out of the way right out of the gate. Best beef brisket in KC! Sliced thick, super juicy, and full of flavor! 'The Big D' is a fantastic sandwich that highlights the brisket on marble rye with cheese and an onion ring. I'm not sure there is a better BBQ sandwich anywhere. The BBQ beans are also very tasty. During colder months I've had the chili here and it's absolutely top notch. Served with warm tortillas! This place is only open for lunch but definitely worth a try as I feel like it gets overlooked in KC's crowded BBQ scene!

The spicy beans were incredible! I would come back just for those. All of the smoked meats were good, but the ribs were pretty bland. The family running the place was super nice. They open a little bit earlier than some of the other places in town so it’s nice if you are trying to get an earlier lunch.

Steven Raichlen says Danny Edwards is the definitive Kansas City style barbecue joint, I also happen to believe it’s the best. I grew up on Jake Edwards bbq who was Danny’s father, the tradition lives on through Danny and now the current owner. Highly recommend the brisket for first timers and the sweet potato fries. I wish they were open for dinner, but Danny said they’re not so they can have a life and time for their families outside of work and I respect that

This is an update review, I liked it the last time I was there and this time everything was great. I had the brisket sandwich and the meat was tender and great. Last time I was not a fan of their baked beans but this time they were great. The beans are different than what I am use to but we're good. Previously I had their combo sandwich and it was great too. The service was great and they were all very friendly.

I wasn't sure about it pulling up with the red bars on the windows but so glad we tried it. Amazing food. Fast even though they were busy! Definitely plan to be back.
