Dapson~Chestney Funeral Home is the most recent addition to a 158 year history of funeral service in Rhinebeck. Carroll Furniture and Undertaking was the first business to operate on East Market Street. Subsequently, Mr. Henry Cornelious established the Carroll and Cornelious Funeral Service, followed by the Dapson Funeral Home, Inc.
The funeral home returned to the site of the Cornelious Funeral Service at 51 West Market Street in 1995.
Within its current location the funeral home has comfortable chapel space able to accommodate large and small families, seating for more than 100 people, ample off street and on street parking as well as a comfortable atmosphere.
The funeral home continues to provide specialized funeral service requests to a majority of families in the greater Rhinebeck area, including Milan, Red Hook, Tivoli, Clinton Corners, and Staatsburg.
In addition the funeral home shares ownership in the Peck & Peck Funeral Homes of Pine Plains and Copake, providing the ability to serve families throughout the region.
