David H. Rivenburgh Insurance Agency has spent over 50 years successfully meeting the most common - and even some not so common - needs of commercial and personal insurance. Our history as an insurance agency is a long and reputable one. Now with only two family members left, it has grown steadily from the time patriarch David Rivenburgh received his first $7.00 commission on a $100 insurance policy, and you could purchase car insurance for $84 a year. David was an independent agent, working out of his home. Just two years later he was able to build his own establishment – literally – since he was also a professional contractor.
The office location is on Rt. 9H in Ghent, which was initially a somewhat desolate area and not viewed by many as an ideal spot to construct a home for an insurance agency. Forty-five years later it is right in the middle of a commercial strip of businesses. Since the passing of David in May of 2006, and then of Berniece in July of 2007 the agency is now owned and operated by daughter Laura Mortefolio and son Guy Rivenburgh.
Pleasing customers is our highest priority. We have no voicemail here; our customers talk to real people. Word-of-mouth satisfaction brings in so many others. Realizing we cannot immediately answer all questions, a promise to find answers guarantees a response. Cheerfully greeting visitors and answering the phones is CSR and Broker, Amanda Miller and of course Laura and Guy themselves.As of March 1, 2015 the agency added to their staff Victor Bujanow ,CIC, Licensed Broker. Victor has over 30 years of experience in the industry and strong ties to the community.
