The way this police department handled the recovery of Nicholas Allen was disgusting. The family deserved better and The Adventures With Purpose team also deserved more respect and cooperation for doing the job in 1 hour that this department couldn’t do in 8 months. Truly a disgrace of a police department and I sincerely hope changes have been made since the incident, but the initial responding officer in that case honestly deserved to be fired. Basic human decency and empathy skills are something every cop should have, especially when dealing with a situation such as this one.
If Sheriff Simmons did not significantly discipline the detective who's responsible for the entire department's horrible image during the Nick Allen recovery, and you re-elect him to office, then unfortunately you deserve the agency that you have. In addition, if all the other deputies who work for this agency aren't equally appalled by this detectives actions, then the problem is a systemic one, and a complete culture change is in order to ensure that citizens are truly respected as they supposedly protect and serve their community. Sometimes an apology is simply not enough!
Can’t believe how they treated the Nick Allen case. Thank God AWP drove across the country to do, in 1 hour, what DCSO couldn’t do in 8 months. Not to mention the treatment of AWP by the detective. As a Paramedic and LEO, I’m truly disgusted in that poor excuse of a detective. It takes 1 bad cop to make the entire department look bad. He is the reason citizens are losing faith in us. Do better, be better. Then the same detective had the audacity to call AWP and ask them to turn off the comments. He gets what he deserves based on his treatment of the case, the family, and AWP. He only cared about himself.
Just finished watching the Nicolas Allen video. How sad when the Sheriff has such an ego problem he is nasty to those helping family. As far as taking pictures of yourself, the Constitution which u store an oath to defend gives people the Right to take pictures in public. You should not be Sheriff but in the south it is the "good old boys" way. How sad. Ho dare u speak to the family and the drivers the way u did, I pray you are no longer Sheriff.
The deputy who arrived on scene first when Adventures with Purpose found Nick in the water a few feet off the bank. That deputy needs to be fired and never return to work as a public servant ever again. The way he treated the family even while on camera only let's you imagine how the family was treated off camera. It's one thing to actually do your job and miss clues or come up empty handed. It's whole different story when you are too lazy to actually do your job and make the family of missing or deceased love ones feel as though they are an inconvenience. Way to go AWP!!
Davidson County Sheriff's dept just sent two deputies out to make sure no one had broken into my home. They efficiently searched and really made me feel safe. The dispatcher stayed on the phone until deputies arrived. My deepest appreciation to all for setting my mind at ease.
Everything you would never want to see in your department. Forget about the Adventures with Purpose video that a lot of the review bombing has come from, the fact that your deputies act like this to the normal public has made you look like clowns and not AwP. The fact that your deputies could not care less about the family and began to mouth off to them. If THAT is the kind of deputies you have no problem working with then you have earned these 1 star reviews. For the record the AwP video of your deputies are shown to OUR police officers on what NOT to EVER do.
Review from a first responder; I am appalled by the Davidson County Sheriff's Departments response to Nicholas Allen. Anyone and everyone associated with this department needs to hold the officers and leadership associated with this misconduct accountable. We take an oath to serve the public! The Sheriff's response was despicable!
Mother of missing teen is ignored by this department for 8 months, and when good samaritan's ultimately do what the police should have - the sheriff has the AUDACITY to show up on the scene and treat the grieving family and friends with nothing but disrespect. To see a senior officer displaying such disgraceful behavior, zero professionalism, zero class, and not an ounce of empathy, is a clear indication he needs to be let go. This is what happens when petty, insecure, little men, are undeservingly given positions of power. Give him the pink slip and let him work on that beer gut from home. Shame.
Who ever this guy is he needs to be fired. Or needs a MAJOR attitude adjustment. Yeah it’s been a year but he still works there. Like do you want this guy to seriously representing your department!? I would be ashamed if I had a man like this! making horrible comments about a missing teen who committed sewerslide! Like are you for real man!? Do better
