Very amazing place of history! My daughter loved it and so did I! If you can, donate to help this FREE museum stay open. They had a scavenger hunt to find items from the different exhibits. Very cool place to go if live in or are coming through Chadron. There are picnic tables outside to bring some lunch if you plan to be there awhile. Will go back. There is so much to see!
I accessed historic year books as well as marriage licenses, photos of buildings where my family members got their 1st jobs, saw modles.of airplanes that my father transported trucks during WW2, and admired the vast collection of vintage goods. The volunteers greeted me warmly and were instrumental in my research. Donations are gratefully received.
Very informative. Dave is very knowledgeable about the museum artifacts and general history of Chadron and Dawes County. Huge collection of memorabilia donated by Dawes County folks. Includes and old school building and a frontier cabin. Do not miss the toy collection.
It was very interesting, it’s free and they have several bldg with stuff. We had gone in for a specific purpose to find any records that may identify a person in the family, we did not have unlimited time as we have several tasks to complete today, but they have lots and lots of stuff, not sure why they have 3 collections of barbwire etc, but it got a bit repetitive, cool collection of kitchen gadgets and toys, one that was kind of weird was the pen and pencil collection that wrapped around several walls, it is really high in the ceiling so you can’t read anything on the collected pens and pencils. They did have a few quilts the story behind this one was cool so I snapped a picture of it.
Great place. A lot of great history. Antiques. The lady there took us to all of the buildings and was very friendly and nice to visit with. There is so much to see!
Several buildings of artifacts and some other historical buildings. Nicely organized. Mostly a collection of local historical items versus a telling of the history of the county.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great local museum! Many historical artifacts to view inside and out. My kiddo loved that they had a functional typewriter that she was welcome to use on display. The old toy section is really neat as well. This is also a Pokémon Go hotspot if you're into that sort of thing.
Antiques, clothing, and artifacts from early pioneer, ranches, military, unique farm equipment, and and so much more from Northwest Nebraska. Volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable and so much fun listening to! Highly recommend.
Awesome museum one of the best I've experienced. Several buildings to experience including a church, schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, machine shed and lots of antique farming implements outside and a house. The main museum is packed full of antiques and nostalgia. Highly recommend.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Enjoyed the toy addition. The church's Angel was great. Loved the quilt section
