Was just here for our 6 month old son who has been having breathing issues and diarrhea for days. All staff and techs were very friendly and helpful. I felt they genuinely cared about our son. We got all his testing and imaging done in a timely manner and was sent home feeling confident he was cared for properly. Pharmacy is FAST too! Highly recommend!
Stopped by to have some outpatient labs completed for my two boys. The lobby was wonderfully kid-friendly and my boys made the most of the available toys and wall-mounted video games while we waited for roughly an hour. Once we got inside the staff was wonderful and engage each boy appropriately and insured they had a pleasant experience except for maybe the blood draw...go figure. Bottom line: I would absolutely not hesitate bringing my boys back.
The staff involved in my child’s care at Dayton Children's Hospital surgery center - south campus was absolutely INCREDIBLE from start to finish!!! He was there to have his tonsils and adenoids removed and they went above and beyond to make our child and us comfortable and well-informed! Everyone was very pleasant and they even drew a dinosaur on his bed with a welcome message, and left markers on the bed to color it in with! So thoughtful and cool!! The surgeon did an amazing job and despite pain being expected, it has been very minimal thanks to their guidance on how to best minimize the pain. We couldn’t be more pleased with the care team and our experience at this facility! TEN STARS!!!!
Dr. Smita Mehta, MD absolutely knocked it out of the park!! We had visited many doctors over the past 2 years and no one had any answers as to the very troubling symptoms our son was having. No one. He finally said one evening, "If this keeps up and no one can help me, my life expectancy is ." As a Mom, hearing this, it was beyond traumatic! Once at Dr. Mehta's office, Amy was an outstanding ultrasound tech! And Sarah RN?, I believe it was, was super kind in asking me all the questions needed. And thank you Noel RN?. Dr. Mehta was the first and ONLY doctor that knew right away what was going on!! I have tears now, as I write this! She didn't herd us through like a bunch of cattle which appears to be a very bad practice that medical offices are doing these days; rushing patients through without actually helping. She explained everything we needed to hear and what to do to get healthy again! My son and I just looked at each other in complete shock! He knew the answers he needed! I knew the answers to now help him get healthy! And now, because of her incredible great care, attention, and informative visits...our son is now healthier!!! Dayton Children's South is BLESSED to have such a doctor!! I wish more were around like her! She is the only one we want to go to. Tears again for the HUGE GIFT she gave us, our Son's health yes, he did the hard work to get healthy, but without her information and knowledge, we would have been suffering still. Thank you, Dr. Mehta and staff for not making us feel like a number, for not rushing us, and for giving us the kind of medical care we absolutely had to have! I pray you all are blessed in ways that line up with how beautiful you give & help others!
The staff was so friendly. We took my 9month old to the ER for a fever. They diagnosed quickly and got us in and out with no problem and being so early in the morning, the staff were all super nice and friendly even when my son wouldn’t stop screaming! I appreciate them so much for being so helpful and answering questions.
Dayton Childrens has been a God Send to my children. They have been able to quickly help my children with their urgent care and assist without me needing to take space in the ER. The pharmacy here is quick and wayyyy cheaper than Kroger, Walmart, etc. For my insurance, it comes with a hefty bill if I have to come here. But in a case of an emergency or urgency, I will gladly pay that cost. Thank you for your constantly kind service.
Walked in to urgent care to get an x-ray for a finger injury at about 5:15. Finally called back to get vitals at 6:15. Then sent for an x-ray at 6:45. After waiting nearly another hour we left without speaking to a doctor or getting the x-ray results. Nearly 3 hours with no expectation management from the staff and no other options. Disappointing.
Had to take my daughter to the ER 2 years ago when she had an unexplained fever under 60 days old. The Dr was absolutely fantastic. The nursing staff was great at explaining things and made an unimaginably hard night a little better with their amazing care and understanding. I hope I never have to go back, but if I have an emergency for either of my children, they are my #1 choice!
Brought in my 6 YO for a laceration on her chin. Such attentive, friendly, respectful, and wonderful people. Everyone we interacted with directed their communication to my daughter, making her feel safe and in control of her own body. Despite needing two stitches something she was VERY concerned about at the end she said she had a “good time” at the hospital. Very impressed with the quality care we received.
My daughter would have been a lot better off had we never gone to the ER. For starters, we came in for a 104 degree fever, and the room they had us in was very hot with no air flow. I asked everyone that came into the room if they could lower the temperature or provide us with a fan for our feverish baby. They all said they would check, and then left and did not return or do anything. We were waiting for several hours in the heat to be seen despite it being late and my baby crying. It was then past my babies bedtime by the time the nurse came in. I had just breastfed my baby and she was finally sleeping peacefully in my arms after a very trying day. Her fever had also gone down thanks to the Tylenol I had given to her before we left for the ER the ER had not given her anything or done anything to help with her fever. That was when the nurse came in to administer motrin. I voiced concern beforehand. I told her my baby was tired, I could feel that her fever had gone down, and that she may vomit, which would be a big problem because I had just nursed her for the night. The nurse became defensive and shut me down, telling me that she knew better than I did the mom because she was a nurse. She then proceeded to force feed my baby motrin as my baby cried and screamed in protest. I kept pleading with the nurse saying,  "let's just give her a minute" as the nurse forced purple motrin down my baby's throat. While the nurse was force feeding motrin, my baby vomited more vomit than I thought could ever come out of such a little baby, and all my breastmilk that my sick baby desperately needed was thrown up all over me. The nurse then proceeded to casually brush it off and left the room, leaving me covered in vomit with a screaming baby. At that point I tried to leave, but a different nurse convinced me I had to stay because my sick baby had thrown up thanks to the other nurse and dehydration was now a concern. My baby is purely breastfed and will not take a bottle, so I had no way to rehydrate her. The ER not only did nothing for my sick baby, they actually made matters much worse. We would have been A LOT better off had we stayed home. The whole visit was unnecessarily traumatic all around. The nurses did not listen or provide care in any capacity to my sick baby.
