The Deaf Education program at the University of Tulsa is a comprehensive program preparing future teachers of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) require specialized teachers who are able to communicate effectively and understand the educational needs of DHH children. The Deaf Education program at University of Tulsa is a comprehensive program for preparing educators to work in various settings with DHH students. Students have the opportunity to gain experience in day programs and residential schools for DHH students as practicum students and interns, as well as to become involved in the Deaf community through local events and DeafTU, the university's Deaf Awareness Club. Our graduates go on to work in day and residential programs for DHH children, as well as to complete graduate study at the master's and doctoral levels.
