Was scheduled for a follow up visit at West after having an emergency visit at St. Mary's hospital. Waited for over an hour and it was not busy. I did speak to staff at the front desk, which was my first mistake. Visiting with each other and looking at their phones was more important to them than patient care. I left without being seen. I worked at the front desk at the East urgent care so I know the importance of taking care of patients ie. informing them of delays and keeping an eye on them in case their illness becomes worse. Needless to say, I will never come to the West clinic again.
The worst location ever! They don’t care about patients at all. I spent a two days in a hallway with a newborn child. In a first day we waited 40 minutes, then they decided to reschedule an appointment. In a second day we waited 55 minutes. My son started crying, after what we just leave this place. It looks like my time not important for them. It was a regular appointment, not an urgent care. In a first appointment doctor was careful and kind it’s a reason for 3 stars. After that something changed in their system. I hope the SSM can see this review and change something.
I had an excellent doctor here years ago but unfortunately he transferred to another facility to get out of this place. Due to insurance restrictions, I'm still locked into SMS Dean and my new doctor here has been inept. Post- covid, this place has greatly diminished and only views it's patients as a cash cow.
Trying to get in touch with your doctor is near impossible. I called for something urgent and was told it would be taken care of urgently. Called back hours later and they hadn’t transferred the message yet, and was promised they would get back to me the same day. They in fact never got back to me, just submitted an incorrect prescription the next day without talking to me, making me miss multiple days of a necessary medication. If you are looking for reliable care, please look elsewhere.
After my routine annual check up in December, I was charged two office visits. I did NOT bring up any health concerns or questions so I was utterly confused as to why I was charged two office visits. After many phone calls to my insurance, billing, and the clinic, I discovered that since I had medications refilled not newly prescribed but just refilled at my appointment that was the reason for the additional office visit billing. As usual at the appointment I was asked if I would like my medications refilled, I was NEVER told this would be an additional office visit charge!!!! How was I to know?!? I have had medications filled previously at appointments and have never had an additional charge. Apparently if I had sent a refill through mychart or had my pharmacist check I would not have had this additional charge, which is just crazy. The whole reason I had my routine check up was to be able to get refills on medications. Here I am having to pay about $300 after insurance due to the additional office visit charge. This has been one of the most frustrating and extremely disappointing medication situations I've had to deal with!!! This is the first negative rating I have ever done. I'm not one to be so negative or judge something so harshly. But I truly hope this sheds some light on the situation and prevents other patients from receiving the an additional office visit charge as well!!!
I had scheduled a wisdom teeth removal for early January. They called me a few times and I didn't pick up--my fault for sure! Day before they cancel my appointment because I hadn't been picking up, so I called and they re-instated the appointment for 11 AM instead of the previous 10:15 AM. All good so far, I don't mind the change in time. I call them later that day and ask when I should show up for the appointment; they say 10:45. I tell my ride to drop me off at 10:40. THE MORNING OF MY PROCEDURE, I wake up and they've changed the procedure to 10:15. I call, and they say 1 it was never 11 AM a lie, and 2 they cannot change it back, and if I don't arrive by 10:15, they will cancel. I frantically tell my ride to drop me off early. We get there at 10:15....and wait. For HALF AN HOUR. So much for them cancelling my appointment if I show up late, they come GET me at 10:45. At 11:15, they discharged me, because they couldn't figure out how to get an IV into my veins. 2 nurses tried, and after a while, my arms were covered in bruises so they had to reschedule...for June!!! 6 months away!!! Then because I was stressed, one of the two nurses hugged me without asking. They proceeded to try to make conversation, most of which involved making fun of my profession. During this time, my ride was in the waiting room, and the receptionist tried to tell her that I was done with my procedure and was in a wheelchair on the first floor. I was not. She was just an incompetent receptionist.
I've always been happy with the dermatology department care here.
Hope you have 30 min to wait on hold in case you need to speak to medical staff. Also there is no voicemail or way to contact them on the mychart app about medications. So waiting on hold is the only option. Sometimes you will get transferred to scheduling and then depending on the person you may get help or you may get told to wait on hold again. Can’t believe there is no other system in place to just have them call me when they have time. Doesn’t seem too complicated to me… maybe there is something I don’t know but I have this issue all the time. Extremely frustrating to the point I am considering a new doctor.
Received the best of care from both the North High Point Rd location and the Park St. Emergency room. The next day I received a call from a nurse to ask how I was doing and called again the day after that to make sure I was okay since I had cancelled by appt. but turns out I was feeling better and just didn't need that appt. anymore. I've always felt really good about my appts. after going in and I've been going here for years.
This hospital is all about moneymaking, the patient's health is secondary to them! In order to be seen for an ear infection, they require the patient to have an earing test first. In what universe is that really necessary? What a moneymaker process!
