They're trying to hang on. The movie theaters great-nephew stores that are in there really nice. But there's a whole lot of wasted space not the fault of the people who are in the mall now but that's just the reality we live in with online purchasing now. I wish there was something that could be done with all that space. That couldn't service the community
Decatur mall is horrible!!! They don't have any good stores anymore. If the movie theater wasn't there it would definitely be bad. The mall has declined tremendously!! They need to bring back some stores so that people wouldn't have to drive all the way to Huntsville or another city in order to shop.
While it's not the fault of the people working in the mall, the doors are locked exactly at the closing time regardless of people are still in the mall or not. I've had to walk from the front exist to the far side in front of belk. It's my own fault I didn't know when belk closed but even so, in this heat walking from one side to the other is ridiculous.
A mall that is 3/4 empty. Has two flagship stores offered with Belks and Electronics Express. Two shoe stores. Has a Great American Cookie that offers snacks. Has an AMC Theater. Besides Belks offers a Maurices, American Eagle, a jewellery store, and Bath & Body Works. While it is mostly vacant it is well maintained and clean. It's fallen FAR from its former splendor, but with brick & mortar stores suffering due to online shopping, its not surprising to see.
There's nothing there. Floors are all carpet. They should really try to bring business in to bring a younger demographic to decatur. I don't see people wanting to move here.
The theater is amazing. I just wish they'd kept the restrooms open. As far as the mall itself, they need to do something to attract more businesses in there. It's not the ghost town it used to be but it could definitely stand to have some more stores open.
The mall is probably nicer than it's ever been, unfortunately there's no reason to go. Very few stores. Overall it kind of sucks.
Nice cool place to chill for a while. Very quiet and empty. Not much to see. Not many shops open.
It was okay... You can still see the death of the American Mall happening before our eyes. This one still does offer an amazing amount of stores considering others, but it's a shame that they don't even have a food court anymore.
Unfortunately, this and many other malls are struggling to keep stores open due to the pandemic and the popularity of online shopping.
