As a Florida state cottage industry, I prepare fresh baked cookies, bars and rugelach which are available for sale to individuals.
With 5 kids in the 50's, my mom baked almost every day and I always loved to make cookies with her. Mom's cookies were traditional but mine sure aren't! They are sweet and savory - with mixed up flavors - sea salt and fresh fruits and herbs. I've baked them for 25 years for my “cookie monster” husband and now I want to share them with everyone.
I live in busy South Florida and my idea was to market my sweet treats locally but I needed funding for the initial start-up. Playing on my name, I launched a Kickstarter project named Dee Licious Bites in mid-August and was fully funded on September 10, 2014 by 20 donors. That was just the incentive I needed and I then began the process of registering my business name and looking for customers to sell my bites to.
My goods are "Made in a cottage food operation that is not subject to Florida's food safety regulations" as allowed by Florida State Law.
