There are many good teachers in this district unfortunately the administration is running a dictatorship here. They “teach” anti bullying but are the biggest bullies in the school. What they have done to our nationally ranked and recognized show choir and founder of the program after 34 years is nothing short of shameful.
DeKalb is a complicated school. It wants to be forward think with it's Tech programs but stumbles on the actual implementation of these programs. The faculty does care but the student must also care for their future. The sports teams can be great when the teams are cohesive. Overall this school is slowly trying to change for the better but prgressvis nutured by the usual politics of running a school.
I'm giving a 1 because I cannot give 0 s. The administration's attitude towards arts has always been backwards and getting anything for the arts instead of sports was always an uphill battle. What you have done to Shelly and Kent Johnsone who have been the foundation of the Choir and theater department since the early 80s is shameful
Dekalb High School leadership is out of control- getting rid of the best thing that ever came to Dekalb- Shelley Johnson. She has changed more lives for the Good than the principal could ever dream of.
The revolving door between the athletic department and school administration should be cause for concern. The boys club is the biggest roadblock to quality education at the school.
Great academic standards. Great sports. A little unfair with the musical arts funding. Great school.
Rich white kids. They consider theirselves diverse because they have like 3 hispanic students, an asian, and a black student or two. out of 1000+. right. "diverse"
They forced a teacher of over 33 years old of her position. I wouldn't send your kids here unless they bring her back.
Listen to your community! You know when you’ve done something wrong. What matters now is are you willing to make amends for it?
Matthew Toth has made a wondeful decision. End of comment.
