This is a military installation. This is a pristine location that borders on paradise. All it needs is more palm trees and you would swear that you were in Hawaii. The life guard tower building doubles as a snack bar with really nice restrooms, changing area and showers. Kind of a club med feel!!! Thank you for the privilege and to my hosts for sharing this magnificent location.
Scenic locations and inside camp Pendleton. Proud to see people serve their nation. Lucky to have a family member who is patriotic. Clean beach with lifeguards monitoring people 24*7. Worth spending time with family after a stressful day.Rooms: 3/5
This is a very unique venue, in that you must be military or know someone who is In order to camp here. It's my understanding that there are cabanas that one can rent, but we camped on the beach in tents. I came with a father-daughter group through the YMCA, but other groups might come here as well. If someone with a higher rank than the person who helped you with your reservation decides they want your spot, then you get bumped. Plan ahead, although this is unlikely. The facilities were mostly clean. With any luck, you'll be able to get reservations.
We went specifically for the beach, and it was better than expected. The maintenance crew was visible and doing their thing to keep the premises in tiptop condition. They even have washers and dryers onsite to get that sand out of your bathing suits! A snack shop as well to ensure you've got extra snacks for the seagulls Location: 5/5
The location is on the beach, which is nice, but sadly, the staff is rude... and lied about space available. I was told there was no availability for a pull through spot, and they had 5... I guess she just wanted to be a bi**h.. Also, if you want your children startled awake by screaming marines PTing outside of your trailer at 0645 in the morning, this is the place for you.. Will never stay here again..
Cabins a bit a small, seemed to be designed for 4- 4 sets of plates, utensils, and towels provided. But just a queen and a foldable bed... Any others will need to sleep on the love seat, or on the beach just behind the cottage. The condition of our room was ok, but it could use some handyman level repairs and a functional room phone. Despite it's faults, it is quiet and relaxing, and a great place for kids. Recommended!
This location is on Camp Pendleton's Recreational Area. We were in the RV Park. Sites are fairly close together. We were their on a Saturday, so the beach was full of people, but it was not "Full". The beach was clean as were the facilities. Safety: The lifeguards were on it! There were several rip currents that day. The lifeguards were quick to advise the crowds and moved them out of the area.
This stay was horrible. First the ventilation is horrible in the cabanas, they are also very outdated and not clean. After a horrible night, Wanted to get a start to the day by walking on the beach, just to be followed by the lifeguard trucks I was expecting them to say something with how they were following but they never did after about 30 minutes they approached me to say the beach was closed and I needed to leave. I saw no signs nor was informed. This was a horrible experience.
Cannit call thru to reser e cabanas. Phone one holds for over 45 minutes. You can only get service by going into the marina store to reserve a cabana. The young man behind counter very nice and helpful. No phones rang so do not know why contracting company does not provide better service. Phone never gets thru. Its disgusting. Marines have a million dollar beach, it was closed for almost a year and its contracted out. Services are poor and too hard to get reservations. Nearby activities: Vuew fantastic, cabanas nice.
I was not able to stay. They system was down and the staff were unable to determine if there were any open rooms. I have stayed here before and typically would be able to 5 star across the board.Service: 5/5
