Extremely caring staff, I brought my cat in on 10/5 with little to no history on her and she was having jaw spasms that were preventing her from eating. Within 10 minutes of walking in, Kitty had a problem tooth removed and I was out the door with pain meds and what seemed like a brand new cat! I can't remember the staff's names but they were all amazing. They even called back the following day, just to make sure everything was going okay. 10/10 would recommend to anyone! Thanks guys! Kitty appreciates you!
I understand there will always be bad reviews for emergency vets, because people are in a crisis and it gets expensive really fast. Our 6 month old puppy was having an allergic reaction, and the emergency vet we called sent us to this urgent care because she said it would be cheaper. I am SO glad she did! We had a great experience, in and out in under an hour at 10:00 at night, and only $50 for the visit the emergency hospital would’ve been $150 just to see the vet. The vet was very sweet to our puppy, and explained everything clearly. For the simpler stuff that doesn’t require a full hospital, we will definitely be coming back and recommending to others!
We were sent to them from another clinic to help get our sick dog through the night so that we could Use Planned Pethood in the morning. She needed and urgent surgery but we didnt have several thousand dollars to do it with their clinic. they said that it had to be done and they wouldn't do anything other than surgery. We were about to make the option to euthanize her because we couldn't afford surgery. They told me they were not going to euthanize her because she was too young and otherwise healthy. So our option was to find a vet who would do it or take her home and watch her die slowly. We did end up finding the money about 2 hours later to have the surgery done and when I finally told them they said the Dr. wouldn't do it anymore. He didnt feel comfortable and something about how they already gave us a big discount and how maybe we should find a rescue to take the dog because having a dog is a big financial responsibility. In the end our baby girl died that night despite going to another vet clinic and doing everything possible to save her. They wasted our time, our money and made me feel even worse than I already did for not being able to afford my pets emergency surgery. They sent us away with a dying dog that they refused to care for simply because they didnt "feel comfortable "? Not because I didnt have the money. Even though when we came in we didnt and when they made Their decision to send us away they thought we had no money for surgery. Though we were willing to help end our pets suffering, they were not. The Ladies were all very nice for the most part. They were mostly the messengers. The one at the end of the night was condescending and made me feel like an even worse person.
I took my cat Zoey to this place last night 3/7/16 at 7pm. They promised me that she would be treated and looked after until 6am, promised to call me with updates when her labs were done, Promised me they would make her comfortable. They took her blood gave her IV fluids charged me $391.00 up front. When I asked my Vet to call them to make sure she was alright they told her they were leaving at 1am and her pump with fluids would be shut off receiving no treatment and to be left alone in a cold dark place, they also told her that Zoey was stable after convincing me 2 hours before that she was critical and needed to be admitted. They gave her nothing for pain, my kitty is still in pain. They gave her nothing for a vaccine reaction, they basically did nothing for her. When I picked her up at 11pm the office manager was trying to convince me that were a compassionate treatment facility for service animals, this is extremely far from the truth. No one seemed to care how my girl was doing, they refunded part of the charges for the services that I did not receive, they did not do the urinalysis which was a vital part of process. They did not treat her in any way but gave her some fluid. I will not be returning to this place ever. They were not compassionate what so ever, they did nothing for my girl. She is still in pain and can hardly walk. My regular vet is coming to the house after work today. They knew I just had spinal surgery and should not be traveling only to make me drive from Cap Hill up there twice within hours. The vet that was on staff last night did not understand English well, when he spoke to me his accent was thick and not easy to understand. Overall this was not a good encounter. They should be ashamed of their treatment, promises and compassion for my kitty. She deserves much better treatment especially for the price they charged, they did nothing but expensive testing and did not even address her pain when she still screams when you pick her up or touch her. Shame on you all for your treatment of me and my kitty. I think I will file a report on this Vets license with the state.
Initially I thought this urgent care was a great place to take my pet. Some of the staff were really nice and joked around considering I was there for about a week while my pet was sick. I was then very disappointed as I started to interact with other staff members. The prices at this location were lower than other locations but I spent over $1000 dollars for one night with no treatment besides an IV. Initially my pet had a fever but blood tests came back perfectly normal. The next day my dog was given to me after waiting a long time in a state I have never seen them in. I was confused because my pet was relatively healthy besides a fever. After waiting longer than I would have liked the dr came in to tell me my pet had low platelets and that he could die at any moment. An additional $2000 was required for my dog to get treatment for something the doctors really did not understand or have the correct treatment for. Over the next few days I had to pay more and more and watch my dog suffer. Came to the end of the week and the dr said he basically would die with platelets between 5-9 thousand extremely dangerous. The dr then tells us they do not have the proper treatment and no doctors to care for him over the weekend so we would have to find help elsewhere. Thankfully we went to a different emergency hospital that same night who tested my pets platelets to see that they were slightly low but not 5-7 thousand. I presented the diagnosis from this vet to the new hospital and the new vet decided my pet did not seem to have any relationship with the diagnosis besides the one symptom of low platelets. At Denver pet urgent care I was given the belief that my dog was going to die in my arms but today he is well and healthy thanks to other Veterinary hospitals.
This review is less for the establishment itself, and more, specifically, for Dr. Leka Jovanovic. When funds were low and our 1 year old cat had a urethral blockage, Denver Pet Urgent Care was our best option. A hefty $3000 bill was cut down to $1800, and our cat is alive. However, several things worried me. We waited for a long time despite the blockage being life-threatening, and there were other things that made us uneasy. When I looked up Google reviews for the clinic, I was worried by the bad ones, even though the good ones outweighed them - especially before we realized that Planned Pethood Plus was a totally separate clinic simply operating in the same building. I was scared that the worst would happen. When we got our cat back, he was happy and affectionate, so different from how lethargic and cranky he was when we took him in. Dr. Jovanovic talked with us at length about his condition and how to care for him. The next day, when our cat showed signs of having trouble peeing, we feared the worst. Dr. Jovanovic told us he had a mild UTI, but we were afraid he'd re-blocked as his had happened previously. Not expecting a response in any timely manner, I emailed the clinic at the address on their business card and expressed my concerns. Within a few hours, Dr. Jovanovic called me back, and because the clinic was busy and he was away from it, gave me his personal cell number to keep in touch. He coached me over text with what to do and how to handle our cat, and we eventually came to the conclusion that it was a UTI and that we have all the meds we need to treat that. I've never had a vet take such a personal interest in my animal before. I know Dr. Jovanovic has dozens of patients a week, so for him to give me his personal number and take time out of his schedule to help me really meant a lot. I know my cat was in good hands, and he seems as happy as ever despite a little discomfort with the UTI. If the receptionists put you off, or the wait time makes you antsy, just know that Dr. Jovanovic will do everything he can to keep your animal happy and healthy.
Took my cat here to be put to sleep. She had been on hospice care for over a week and I came home knowing it was definitely time. Took her in and everyone was less than sympathetic. We had to wait in the waiting room while my cat laid dying in my arms and listen to the staff laugh and discuss their sandwich preferences. The receptionist made us pay before the procedure had even been done... Then when we finally get back everyone acted so shocked that my cat was having trouble breathing. Literally the reason I took her in. It was the most unsympathetic, lack of urgency series of events that could have happened.
This place is great for emergencies; my puppies can get naughty and the vet here is so great with them! He's definitely not a people person but he's amazing with my pups, I definitely trust his judgement every time. The place is usually BUSY! So the earlier you get there the better we have had to come for issues like dew claws, playtime injuries and puplies eating stuff they aren't supposed to. I have to say that not all the staff is great but they tend to be thoughtful and provide snacks and stuff while you wait. I also feel like their prices including their emergency fee are reasonable.
How disappointed I am in a very challenging time for my family. My father took went to Denver Pet Urgent Care after his dog passed away at home. He was a mess. He went in and ordered the paw print and the ashes returned of his dog. The lady showed him urns, colors- everything. He made his choices and paid. That's when the lady realized that she didn't charge him for the ashes. "Never mind," she said. "I'll fix it and not charge you." He clarified and she assured him that was okay. She even said it'd be about a week and they'd call him when the ashes and paw print were ready. A week goes by, no call. We call, no response. Finally, a month later, we finally talkneuth someone who says the paw print has been there for a while- but no ashes. She didn't order them. My 78 year old father lost his only companion. We trusted Denver Pet Urgent Care to help him and the negligence and shortcutting of one employee has forced him to grieve all over again. Shame on you. I'll never take any of my animals there and I'll tell everyone I can think of. I'm horrified for my dad, and you should be too.
If I could put in a negative rating I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED pet here! I will never recommend your “emergency” services to anyone. I was referred to you by Wheat Ridge animal hospital the day after Christmas. I have also notified them of my terrible experience. They recommended you because of your extended hours not because of your service. They knew I couldn’t afford their $1200 per night rate for full fluids and monitoring. Because of your heartless staff my pet nearly died and needed extended care. They let me sit in a waiting room for 3 HOURS, knowing my dog had I injested nearly 30 ibuprophen tablets. You were contacted by Wheat Ridge animal Hospital ahead of my visit to let you know I was coming. My dog needed immediate fluids to flush his kidneys. I sat in your waiting room for nearly 2.5 hours before being placed in a room where I waited another 45 minutes. I was told before going into the room that you would most likely not admit him because he was not neutered. This was a dog in my care and not my own. I tried to leave but the staff wanted me to sign a paper stating I refused treatment and let my pet possibly die. I wasn’t going to sign something like that so stayed. By the time the dr came they were only open 20 more minutes. They put a pic line in and about 10 minutes worth of fluids, charged me nearly $500 and sent me home!!! Luckily I took him back to wheat ridge hospital whi gave him the remaining fluids. It was then morning and I took him to my normal vet, Table Mountain Vet, who continued fluids for 4 more days to prevent deadly kidney damage. They saved his life and only charged me less than this place did for 10 minutes of actual treatment!!! He lost very critical 4 hours of fluids and would have died had I not taken him back to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. If you love your pet please do not take them here for an emergency. There were only 2 people ahead of me when I arrived so no apparent reason for the wait. Especially when they knew what had happened. The staff is heartless Brenda Janssen Golden, Co
