Desoto Falls Recreation Area
"Camping at DeSoto Falls Recreation Area is open. The DeSoto Falls Recreation Area is located off Highway 129 just inside the National Forest boundary. The campground is a scenic spot with easy access for either a weekend of camping or a quick hike to the falls. There are two waterfalls which can be easily viewed along the DeSoto Falls trails. Trout fishing is popular along Frogtown Creek which flows adjacent to the campground. A mature forest provides the perfect setting for a family recreation getaway."

Beautiful campground area, definitely more woodsy than some others I've seen, more wildlife activity warnings than others that I've seen as well. We only walked through one path that took us to a small overlook to a smaller scaled water fall, but it was still beautiful! It's worth the trip!
Gorgeous hike and campground. 2 hikes to waterfalls, one is 0.75 miles, the other 0.25 miles one way. Well maintained. The hikes are easy. Download the app and pay for parking ahead of time.
Beautiful park and campground. To hit both the waterfalls is about 2 miles and small elevation gain. I would rate it on the easier side of moderate. The trails are well maintained and marked. You can bring dogs as long as they are leashed. 5$ parking unless you have an interagency pass.
An easy hike with gorgeous views!! My husband and I hiked to the upper falls. We did not go to the lower falls but heard that it is also a very easy hike. The waterfall on the upper hike is gorgeous. Sadly so many people feel the need to leave graffiti everywhere on the platform.
This was a nice campground right on the DeSoto Falls trail. If you’re going to the falls, definitely stay here, you can walk right out of camp and there are sites right on the creek. Only reason I removed one star was because it is right off the highway and there is constant motorcycle / car noice all day, but it quiets down at night. Overall we loved the campsite and would stay again. The sites all have nice fire pit / grill combo and picnic tables with a place to hang a lantern. Bathrooms real potty and also porta potty style available and showers semi- outdoor stall with concrete floor. Pictures are of spot 9, which is a nice mostly secluded spot not right on top of or across from other sites.
Nice little campground, just don't rent the back area, it is right next to the road that comes through the mountains. A lot of tracker trailers all night. Their head lights shine right through your tents, and you hear their jack brakes, really loud all night.
Great spot for a getaway with the pop-up camper. No power, no water, no cell service, and no wood. Sunrise Grocery up the mountain has a great deal on firewood! But that made the trip more adventurous! Great hike to the waterfalls! Nice and well maintained camp, can't wait to come back when it gets a little warmer!
Upper Falls is a longer but very easy route. Not a lot of elevation gain overall, what does happen is fairly gradual. Most of the walk is along a creek. The falls themselves are fairly impressive. The Lower Falls are short but have fairly significant elevation gain for the distance. That being said it's very manageable, even if you aren't in the best of shape.
Nice and clean as a recreational place should be. I camped at site 14. the only double lot ... Beautiful spot ... The camp site hosts are super friendly. I will be back
Great easy/moderate hike to check out the lower and upper falls We did see a bear in the parking lot that did not seem too concerned about humans, so just be aware and smart. Restrooms: Vault toilets at trailhead
