What a great experience! Plenty of places to sit and rest with lots of shade to cool off, misters and water refill stations located throughout the zoo. Lots to see and most of the animals were pretty active. The food was all delicious and reasonably priced. The bathrooms were pretty well kept. We never felt over crowded or like our personal space was invaded as there were wide walk ways and plenty of room to move about. We spent about 5 hours at the zoo and it was time well spent!
Had a lot of fun went with my son was my first time ever going and enjoyed a lot of the experience! We went during zoo boo event and had a great time everyone was super kind and courteous. I must say it was also pretty organized for a large event!
Wow, I have been to a few zoos in my lifetime but this place tops my list. Very walkable routes, easily accessible for all. Train ride helped with tired feet. Animal living quarters were phenomenally maintained and had beautiful scenery to look at, which the design allows patrons to get really up close to these majestic animals. Grounds were super clean and maintained. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. I really enjoyed the staff at the animal areas giving us great information about them. I totally recommend and would return.
Lovely day today! Zoo was clean, beautifully manicured, bathrooms were clean. Brought my father in his wheelchair and the pathways and exhibits were easy to navigate. The 4D movies were excellent and had delightful surprises in the seats - see it for yourself! All personnel were courteous and helpful. A delightful surprise in the middle of the city! We were partial to the butterfly exhibit!
Go into the buildings! Look around! There's a lot of hideaways and interiors that people just kept walking by. The backside of the rhino exhibit was entirely empty and it was right beside them! Look at my pic! Zoo is very well built up and they take great care of the paths. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, willing to share without hesitation. Food staffing were great too! I'm very impressed.
It was great! Staff is very polite and helpful. They would see us struggle and take initiative to step in and help even when we hadn't asked. The animals all looked so comfortable too all enclosures and other facilities were very clean aswell.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$11–15
By being here you get a very good hike, a bunch of cool pictures of the animals, and a great time with family or friends. Unfortunately some sections were "not so greatly maintained" but overall.its a good experience my first time ever here . This includes the penguins exhibit as well as the amphibians at no extra cost for them. Buy your tickets online for shorter line and saving a couple of bucks on every ticket
Total cost to enter was over 65 dollars for two adults. Parking is not included, that is an additional 8 dollars. We saw quite a few of the animals but not all were out. We were starving but none of the food places opened until after 1pm so we left early to go eat. People with strollers were lining up outside the food vendors before they could even open. Potter Park zoo in Lansing was smaller, cheaper, and better overall. Do better Detroit Zoo.
Enjoyed the Detroit zoo. We spent 6.5h there hitting all attractions and sometimes circling back to see some twice. Walked about 5.5 miles. We were able to see every available animal except for the beavers and the wallabies. While circling back twice through the new penguin exhibit and the snow monkeys my favorite. This park is a full day trip if you actually stop at each exhibit. However when sitting down at any location to eat there were a lot of bees that wanted anything sweet.
It's fine. You can do the majority in 2hrs. I wouldn't bother on really warm days unless you're there right at open. By noon, most animals find it too warm and are napping. It's better in fall and even winter. When we went on July 3rd, we got there early and saw so much activity. With the gorillas leaving, it was so wonderful to see all 3. 2 up close. Got few pictures because wanted to be present.
