Completely dissatisfied with this clinic now. I have been a patient here for at least 10 yrs. Can't call directly to office anymore. Goes to a central call center and on hold for 12 minutes. Recording says hang up and call 911 if emergency. Only choice i have is to wait as long as they want me to wait. Unacceptable. After reaching a nurse at the clinic, I was unable to even ask my generic health question before I was questioned as to why I did not give my name and was accused of working around the system and was hung up on. Wow! Call my doctors office for advice and can't even get my question out. I will find a new doctor and I would suggest any other patients to do the same or consider consulting another clinic. Times have really changed healthcare and not for the better. Seems as if this health system cares more about "covering themselves" before listening to the patients concerns.
I have had a positive experience with the entire staff at the U of M Dexter Health Center since 2017 as new patient as well while I have a schedule that at times due to being a caregiver for my mother with Alzheimers I have had to cancel or reschedule appointments they have been more than understanding. I have had a health concern That was time sensitive and I was contacted by a nurse the same day regarding a concern or to fill a prescription etc. Starr Kelleher*
Best Dr's on the planet, they genuinely care about you and your families health. We've been going there for years now, our kids, baby and highly recommend them to other family members. I've personally had some major health issues and scares and they've left me feeling safe and hopeful. If you're looking for doctors to trust, look no further.
Have been going to Dexter Family Medicine for several years, and still do even tho' I no longer live in the area. I was recently down for other business in area, had a scheduling conflict on short notice. Abby was understanding, polite - worked some magic and was able to get me in. Appointment was with PA-Cabble. Had never seen me, yet was up to speed on my medical history with very little prep time. He has a great demeanor, listens to you and explains answers to questions very well.
I love Dexter Family Health Center, especially Dr. Christa Williams. Great service! I feel like a real person there and not just the next patient. I am never rushed and my questions are always answered. If I had one complaint, it's that you can't just walk in for blood draws, they want you to make an appointment. I like them so much that I can work with that. A++++++++++++++++++
If I could give this place negative stars I would. Terrible, terrible!!!! No communication and the staff does not care. Dr. McKee had misdiagnosed me on two occasions. Plus he does not have any skill talking to patients. First time I had injured my foot and I was walking on crutches I begged for an MRI and he denied my request. He told me I would be fine in 3 weeks. I hobbled around for two months when finally a doctor at St. Joe's issued an MRI and I had a SERIOUS tissue tore in my foot. Second, he told me another condition I had could be caused by a brain tumor in front of two medical students and then left me in his office alone for 20 minutes with no explanation or follow-up. I of course did not have a brain tumor. He is inept! After that I changed doctors. If you see him or go to this clinic, run don't walk to another medical facility.
I love the care I receive at this office, the PCP I have is wonderful! She takes her time with you and makes sure all my questions are answered, and if she doesn't know she finds out for you. If I need meds she goes out of her way to find ones I can afford. When I call and leave a message for the nurce, she always calls me back. I am very pleased with the care I receive at the Dexter Family Medicine Office.
Certain staff members BULLY patients, order unnecessary tests, and judge you if you suffer from any mental health problems or substance dependency. NO COMPASSION. Very disappointed, I don't recommend this clinic in the least.
Bad communication! Good luck getting someone to answer the phone, give the Dr. your messages, refill your prescriptions. Bet bet is to find a way to directly connect to the doctor of your choice without any of the nurses or clerical people being involved..Patient porthole would be great but it took me 8 tries and over 3 weeks to set up my family of four. I kept having code password problems and whatever..It probably has improved, this was when it was new. Now that it is finally set up it works much better than leaving messages. Don't leave a message, they get lost or are sent into another world somewhere!!! Personally I just gave up and found my healthcare out of the U of M system.. Too bad I loved my Dr. just couldn't get over all of the office mistakes! Now my mother is experiencing the same thing and I feel bad because I recommended her to go there!
Ugh! Expect to wait at least half an hour before being seen unless your appointment is the first of the day. It would be great if, when the office knows your doc is running late, a call could be made to let you know it'll be a 2:30pm appointment instead of being left sitting from 2-2:30 thinking about everything ELSE you could be doing instead of sitting in a waiting room.
