An off-leash dog park for the Nacogdoches community and its visitors.
The Goal: to establish a community project designed to create an off-leash dog park where our four legged companions can socialize/play/exercise in a safe, clean and well maintained (completely fenced in) area along with their human counterparts.
The American Kennel Club states that a dog park:
* Allows dogs to exercise and socialize safely. (ex. keeps our canine friends from running into the path of an oncoming car while at play, etc.)
* Promotes responsible dog ownership. (ex. Easier for the city to enforce leash laws because owners will have access to a safe area for their dogs to freely be off leash.)
* Provides an outlet for dog owners to socialize. (To quote the AKC: "The love people share for their dogs reaches far beyond economic and social barriers and helps to foster a sense of community.")
* Makes for a better community by promoting public health and safety.
