Wow. The tour is phenomenal. We got to go on the stage and see what it’s like from perspective of accepting an Oscar, so darn fun!!!! The perspective of seeing. The backstage, “green room” and the pathway of the stars from Hollywood blvd up the red carpet, and through and into the stage. Then the journey from seats to acceptance, behind the stage to the freight elevator, to the press room. Wonderful images and captures from proper award winners and nominees.
Great place to presence a concert . My wife and I enjoyed the music, but I am amazed with the architecture on this building, just to think great movie starts have been in this same place. Liked a lot and the sound was simple magnificent . Parking lot very accessible and lots of spaces. Drinks are not allowed on the seats, just in designated areas. Recommended place!
If you like movies, if you have enjoyed the Oscars years after years, and you are in Los Angeles… the Dolby Kodak Theater have to be in your bucket list! They theater offers a tour that is great where you can get inside, walk though the seats, access the back stage, green rooms, is so good and very interesting. They talk a lot about the Oscar ceremony and how the entire event is produced very interesting too and they walk you trough all the logistics and details Fun Fact: The theater has an aforo of 3,400 people, but its smaller than it look at the TV. 100% recommended
The theater was designed by David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group, with Theatre Projects Consultants, specifically with the Oscar ceremonies in mind. Though the stage is one of the largest in the United States—roughly tied with the Edward C. Elliott Hall of Music at Purdue University—measuring wide and deep, its seating capacity is only about half the Hall of Music's, accommodating 3,332 people. The result of astute planning and technical design, the auditorium is particularly successful as a venue for televised theatrical performance improving production values for American Idol and the Academy Awards. The architectural team consulted extensively with leading production personnel in Hollywood, achieving a highly functional cable infrastructure, with an underground cable bunker that crosses under the theater to truck locations on adjacent streets. Power is also substantial and accessible. The theater has a unique Rockwell-designed cockpit in the orchestra seating area for camera, sound, and stage management. The hall from the front entrance to the grand stairway leading up to the theater is flanked by storefronts, as well as Art Deco columns displaying the names of past recipients of the Academy Award for Best Picture, with blank spaces left for future Best Picture winners, well into the 21st century. Currently the columns are set for Best Picture up to 2071. In a fashion reminiscent of Hollywood movie-making, the building is dressed before the Academy Awards ceremony, sometimes with a different sign on its facade, red drapery to hide its storefronts, and the famous red carpet running up its grand stairway.
One of the most famous theatres in the entire world and also a wonderful museum where you get to actually stand on the very stage of The Oscars - Which feels just crazy. Also you get to see real Oscar Statuettes and walk the same walk that the celebrities do at the night of the awards. I can't recommend this enough
Beautiful theater, comfortable seating and how cool that you get to enjoy where Hollywood celebrates Hollywood! Last saw Annie here and the acoustics were great too. A must see if you are in town.
I went to watch famous Louise C.K. show. It has beautiful and gigantic interior space like Europe's church. Sound was clear and seat was comfortable. In the second floor, the fence was too short so it looks dangerous But still love it.
The app could've done a little better with seating choices. It wasn't clear how close seats were. Overall, it was easy to get into and the seats were roomy. Parking was also a breeze. Definitely gotta give it up to the Dolby staff, they supplied an email beforehand that outlined exactly how to get there, where to park, where to enter, etc. Nice.
We were just here a couple of days ago for the Cobra Kai panel and it was amazing!! The theatre itself is gorgeous; I mean, after all, the Oscars are held here. The sound is the best around it is Dolby and owned by Sony, so I'd expect nothing less. If you park in the Highland/Hollywood garage, the theatre is right inside and the walk is minimal. However, it's expensive to park here, so you may want to find somewhere cheaper. It's up to you. A couple of things I didn't enjoy. When we arrived, the stars of Cobra Kai were on the red carpet doing their interviews. We stopped on the ramp a good distance away from them and were just watching. Some power-hungry security guy quickly and angrily motioned for us to get out of the area, which I thought was pretty rude. We weren't doing anything, nor were we close to anyone. We weren't saying anything or causing a disturbance. We were just watching. Guy was a total a**hole and for no good reason. Secondly, I am on the Autism Spectrum and have sensory issues. The sound in the theatre is INCREDIBLY LOUD and if you are someone with sensory problems, I'd HIGHLY recommend bringing ear plugs or ear muffles to take the sound down a bit. I struggled with that. All in all, it was a good experience, but too loud for me.
Oscars are held here every year so I thought I should take the tour. Well worth the walk around the property. Tour guide shared stories and relevant info to the party!
