Horrible. The car was given to me with no walk through. It was filthy inside just like there name, the vent to the AC was broke, and we were excited at the time we didn't want little minor things at the time to ruin our 1 week vacation. However then we heard a noise coming from the tire that got worse from the first day we picked up the rental. When we look on day 3 the tire had a bubble, so unsafe i felt like i could of gotten really hurt on vacation. When I called them in regards to this due to the spare also being damaged by the wayhow do you not take car of important issues such as this as a known company they told me that i would have to pay in order to get it replaced I repair tires on my personal vehicles not a rental company which I paid to give me a well taken care of car for me to enjoy my self, i did just the opposite. After 45 minutes on the phone and an hour at the firestone i finally resumed my vacation, horrible never again in life will i deal with this type of car rental agency. I only put one star in order to publish this. Side note , the guy lied whom handed me my paperwork initially told me that they will charge me the same amount as the outside gas stations if i prepaid for gas, liar. Not professional, thrifty car, and horrible customer serviceliars. It can't get worst than that. Pictures for proof.
I was so skeptical about my booking because of all the negative reviews, in fact, my experience was good. The agent is very patient, helpful and nice. He explained the process thoroughly. The reason I didn't give them 5star, because the car we got smells someone smoke cigarette inside.
worst customer service. i called beforehand to make sure they take AAA memberships for discounts and they said yes, show it at the counter. when i got there the guy literally told me he was new and didn’t know how to do anything and to call customer service. so i did and they said they should have applied discounts at the counter but no worries when i drop the car off they will fix it in billing. i drop the car off, call billing and they tell me they won’t do that i should’ve have done it at the counter. i tried to explain the situation and they hung up on me. and extra $115 i was charged. ridiculous.
Booked a "Manager's Special" and got a very nice Buick SUV for the price of a compact. No lineup at the counter, and no pressure from the agent to upsell add-ons we didn't need. No surprises on the bill and an easy return. 1st class facility at TPA , would definitely use them again.
We rented a car from thrifty Tampa airport. Needed the car for two extra days but because we had a different booking #they made us come back and was given a different car. The staff needs to be retrained. Never had to do this with any other company A waste of our vacation.. plus understaff 2 people. Called head office told e mail they will get back . Still waiting.
I picked up a car from the location, I rented it in June 2022. I got there, they said to me, "Pick any car in the line up" which was 2 or 3 different vehicles. I picked a 2020 Honda Civic as it looked to be the best on gas, as I walked up to it, I noticed a ton of rock chips, scuffs, and marks on it. So I took the initiative of taking a video as I did a walk around on the car. I used my phone, and pointed at all the damage and was on my way. The people working there never did a walk around with me. They just showed me the direction of the car, and I was on my way. WELL Literally January of 2023, I get a phone call from a collections company. They said they are trying to collect what they say is a debt of over $700 for something they claimed I did to the car. Well, good thing I kept the video! This is dirty! I'd never recommend them to anyone else.
Worst Customer Service I have ever dealt with. Employees at counter were rude, rolled their eyes at every question I had, completely incompetent at their job. I was not able to reach anyone at the phone number provided. I was Given attitude by front desk employees, manager, and corporate office!! No wonder they are a 2 star review company. I highly advise you to save yourself the headache and use a different car rental company.
We showed up to pick up the rental, after talking with customer service on the phone regarding adding drivers. The in person experience was lacking customer service and frustrating. They individuals had no name tags, spoke softly from behind a computer screen and spoke so quickly we frequently had to have them repeat themselves. Another individual answered a question and then immediately walked away and did not acknowledge our presence. No one was willing to help us solve the problems, nor explain why we heard one thing from customer service but differently from them, nor speak loud enough for older customers to hear them, nor be pleasant and understanding. They just wanted to talk with each other and on their phone. Stay away from this company and service location. We left with a very bad impression of Thrifty as a result of their staff.
Will never rent from them again.girl a desk said your not guaranteed a car made us up grade for more money after we prepaid.never again.and to top it off they had all kinds of cars.
Made our reservation through Orbitz, paid for our van everything should have been good to go. Got off the airplane, found thrifty at the airport and was told we can't have the van we paid for without have a credit card for security deposit. We couldn't use the same debit card we paid for the car with. I gave my husband my credit card and they told us since he made the reservation we couldn't use a credit card in my name all our bank accounts are shared! They said we'd have to make a complete new reservation under my name and only I would be able to drive the van. which I was not okay with driving in areas unfamiliar so, it was going to be an additional $900 after what we paid nearly $400 through Orbitz, but thrifty let us know we can get a refund so no worries! Right... When I was told I would have to be the driver I said no way. We then used our debit card same exact card we rented the van with, same exact card they refused to accept for our deposit! And got a smaller vehicle that absolutely did not fit our families needs. We ended up paying $789 plus they held an additional $500 for the deposit. Well vacation ended, we returned our car. Had reached out to orbitz and husband got nowhere. I got on chat and they sent info to be investigated and my husband got an email back that we're getting refunded $250. Although we paid more we won't get that back because it is taxes and fees apparently. Thrifty got us good. We paid all together over $1000 for a car that didn't fit us. Only reason we rented a vehicle was because it was going to cost us $150 to get a taxi to our destination and it would have been just a little more for us to have a rental considering a round trip was $300. I will never recommend thrifty. We were stuck in a place without a vehicle after having everything set and I really feel like we were ripped off badly. I would give 0 stars if I could. Thanks thrifty for starting our vacation out stressful. Edit: Orbitz gave us a refund on the van we rented. Thankful they listened to us. Shame on Thrifty.
