The Douglas County Library Foundation was founded to “aid, assist, and promote interest in the Douglas County Library System”.
The Douglas County Library Foundation was founded in 1981 to aid, assist and promote interest in the Douglas County Library System. At the time the DCL Foundation was incorporated the focus was on helping to fund a new Headquarters building in Roseburg. Construction of that building began in 1993. It was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
The ongoing purpose of the DCL Foundation is to improve the financial support of the DCL System through gifts, grants, and bequests. All money collected and property acquired by the DCL Foundation are used in support of the DCL System.
Since 2001 the DCL Foundation has conducted an enhancement campaign in the fall to raise funds for the purchase of books and materials for all of the libraries throughout the system. In 2011 the Foundation received over $26,000 through the enhancement campaign.
