Dr. Ryan Christensen is a dually board certified osteopathic physician practicing Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and family medicine with a holistic, patient centered approach. Dr. Christensen is board certified in Family Medicine & OMT as well as Emergency Medicine after completing a dual residency at McLaren Oakland Hospital in 2017. He practices at Osteopathic Health Care Associates in Utica, MI with Dr. Shane Patterson.
Dr. Christensen speaks both languages of medicine as well as that of alternative medicine, and incorporates drugless, hands-on healing modalities with osteopathic manipulation. He uses cranial osteopathy, myofascial release, HVLA, muscle energy, and many other techniques to gently and safely ensure structural freedom and treat pain, muscle spasms, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr. Christensen is actively involved serving the Oakland County Osteopathic Medical Association, the Michigan Osteopathic Association, and with the American Osteopathic Association and other professional associations. He teaches residents and medical students from the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and served as the president of the alumni board of A.T. Still University's School of Medicine in Arizona, his alma mater.
Dr. Christensen was fortunate to have been mentored by the late Viola Frymann DO and many other influential teachers. His motto and treatment philosophy is best described by Dr. AT Still, the founder of osteopathic medicine:
