this college has repeatedly disenrolled my wife who had not received access to her college email to receive updates when classes were beginning. She went in person to re-enroll and attend the required orientation class from her professor. She was disenrolled again automatically after already supposedly having the issue sorted out and beginning her class work. Because of their automated system repeatedly dis-enrolling her, FAFSA would no longer pay for her classes. I am recommending anyone looking to pursue adult education, especially veterans who might have similar issues with the Department of Veterans Affairs having them disenrolled, look elsewhere until this issue is resolved
As a chemistry student with a 3.8 GPA, that has attended other 4 year universities, this review comes with experience, and not hate or spite. The two star rating is split between the amazing chemistry department, the math department which is complete trash, and the general lack of office management at this school. Starting with the math department, their teachers and adjuncts do not care about their students. They live with a "if you get it you get it, if you don't, you just drown" philosophy. I've had math teachers get smart with me on assignments and write things like "answer the question?" with no other comments or help provided. If you go to the math center they say things like "were here to tutor, not to teach", as if the definition of a tutor, isn't a private teacher. It's absolutely absurd and ridiculously messy, I constantly hear students complaining and saying the same things, boiling down to the fact that the math teachers just don't care. Their chemistry and science department is the complete opposite. All my science teachers have taken the time to tutor and make sure everyone that wants help, gets it. They hire professors and scientists with PHDs that are very intelligent, know what they are talking about, and just generally have caring hearts. I'm still amazed at the difference of how much help I've recievied and even been offered when it wasn't needed, compared to the math center. I would tell anyone looking to forward their education in science, to start with this school, just take your math classes somewhere else. The reason for 2 stars and not 3, comes from how bad their offices and assistance systems work. I've had numerous problems with financial aid, included someone getting smart and hanging up on me, because their colleague gave me the wrong information. It's also pretty hard to just get general information from the school. As with everything though, you take the good with the bad if you really want it. Overall, it's an education that you have to fight and have patience for, but it's still an education.
I went to this college for a long time, and there are some parts I loved, some I liked, and some I didn't like. It's been a very long time since I took any math classes, so I can't give an accurate review on what I don't remember well. The teachers I had were mostly very nice. I say mostly because really it depends on who you get for what classes. The cafeteria had some nice food before it closed up for COVID, and everything in the bookstore had decent prices for everything EXCEPT the textbooks don't get me started. The financial aid office is a nightmare. You spend dozens of minutes waiting, and you're liable to sign up for a student loan without realizing it. Props to Dr. Statler though, she really helped me with my accommodations and helped me get through most of my classes with great grades. I do recommend going here. Tuition isn't that bad, and you'll get a great education, just know that the ride will be a bit bumpy at times.
Beautiful campus. Lunch for reasonable price is wed &thu reservations. Excellent service. Well kept school.
My son attends Del Tech as an Mechanical Engineering Major and I must say that Del Tech is awesome. Great teachers, financial aid and business office staff, ME Dean, and advisor. Also, having the SEED scholarship is such a huge blessing!!!
Attended on and off between 2014-2018 Didn’t receive a degree. Campus is overcrowded with not enough resources for the amount of student they take in. And the business Office is very rude and organized. Adding random charges and placing holds on accounts years after I stopped attending.
The best college in Delaware. I am an alumni, so I might be biased.
I know staff who work at DelTech. One of the former kitchen chefs is a good friend. Mr. Dan is the Campus Director. He is good people!!! I love Ms Mary C, Ms. Maryann, Ms. Gurtha, Ms Donna, Ms Karen Ms. Vicky and Ms. Cyndy are awesome folk who keep students online with there finances. Thank you all for what you do. There are others whoses names I will not mention who are on the frontline. Keep up the great work. You are a blessing to the students.
Financial aid office is unorganized and doesn’t keep track of documents they are receiving. I tried applying for the SEED scholarship since I was eligible. Made me submit certain documents time and time again each time with different requirements. After literally several months of going back and forth completing and resubmitting documents and waiting in the zoom room just for someone to tell me that they still don’t have everything they need even though I turned in EVERYTHING that they asked for .And I forgot to add that at one point in time I had asked my mom to email them for me because I was having such a hard time and one of the people in financial aid had told her that they had everything they needed and that I would be AWARDED for the scholarship. I go through the semester thinking that the cost would be covered only to reach the end and find that they STILL have a hold on my account and that I wasn’t awarded anything. I reach out to the business office who was MUCH more helpful than financial aid And they tell me that the financial aid office is NOW requesting a transcript of my parents taxes from the IRSthat they didn’t ask for before which the IRS is taking forever to even respond. They tried to say that they were emailing me this information but I checked my school email and every other email address that I own and there is not A SINGLE EMAIL from the financial aid office requesting any additional documentation. NOW I have to pay for the classes they claimed would be free for every Delaware student who met certain educational requirements.
this campus sucks!! they are useless when it come to helping students. i wish i could give it a 0 stars. people are rude and create more problem then solutions. they tell you one thing and then another. i have never felt so over whelmed with signing up to continue my education. i have spent all summer in and out of this place just to be told that i cant start this semester and the i will lose my scholarship. these so called counselors are useless.
