Established in 1997, Dusties Southern Style Buffet’s original location in Dolton, IL was the first southern comfort food buffet opened in the south suburbs of Chicago.

DUSTIES BUFFET HISTORY

At age 8 Dr. Kenneth Lewis Sr. began his first entrepreneurial venture selling veggies from the back of a truck and continued to innovate various business enterprises from a young adolescent to retiring from New York Life Insurance Company after 15 years of service and earning the distinction of New York Life’s Chairman’s Council top 100 agents.

Founded in 1984 Ken owns and operates Kenny’s Ribs & Chicken, Dusties Southern Style Buffet in Matteson and Dusties Restaurant, Country Club Hills, IL., with the same entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality service.

Mr. Lewis set a record at the 2015 Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards for the first time in the history of the 13 year program; accepting the top honor in two categories: Dusties Southern Style Buffet for Best Soul Food and Kenny’s Ribs for best Bar-B-Que.

Ken has fed more than 250,000 customers complimentary on their birthday as a way of saying thanks for allowing him to provide 30 years of exceptional service to the community!

To be fair, we arrived about 7 pm, so it was close to closing. Some things they weren't putting anymore of it out. The food was good. There's a nice selection. The place was clean. They just weren't putting out any more banana pudding. The dessert I wanted. I live in Phoenix AZ, and there's nothing like this at home. The receptionist could've been more welcoming.
The food was great and it was nice that hardly anyone was there. We arrived about 6pm then by 730 they began to pack up everything. They also were doing things to make us feel rushed like turning off tv and removing items. I just feel of there are still people dining in and paid, you should give them all they pay for stop rushing people out and removing half of the buffet.
I traveled 1.5 hours from work to pick up my family in order for us to eat here. The website says they close at 9:00pm, but when we arrived at 8:00 pm, we were told dine-in ended at 7:30 pm. I asked to speak with a manager. In stead of him coming to me, I had to go outside to speak to him. He told me I should’ve called. Wow is all I can say! Perhaps they should update their website to alert customers before we try to support their business.
Omg where do I start ok Mother's Day we got there at about 6pm they close at 8 for dine in and take out 9. Let's talk about it most of the items were out and we were told that they would not be refilling them. We then asked about desserts and were told we should have came earlier cause they had everything. The desserts we got were not good at all dry couldn't chew or swallow without water cobblers should of just been trashed for 38.33 per person this was unacceptable. Soul food where no taste or favors whatsoever gives soul food a bad name. Not very clean either. I was so excited and hungry me and some more mothers went just to eat good and enjoy each others company and we spent the whole time complaining about the food what we wanted they didn't have and what we got they could've kept. It's a buffet food be refilled until you close. Not what's left is what you get we didn't pay for scraps we paid for a meal. We had to stop and pick up food so we were out of money and a meal. Please do better.

My son chose here for his birthday.. he lives soul food and myself and all other sons went yesterday. The food was great! So great we still paid for to go’s.... we will be back this week for my other son birthday! So if you want some great tasting soul food right at your fingertips, choose Dusties buffet in Matteson!
Mother’s Day and they didn’t open til til 11:40 when they should have been open at 11a.m. The staff was very unprofessional, they barely knew what to do when ringing customers up. They charged $52.00 per person including children and it was not worth it at all. I took my cake to go and one of the young cashier girls yelled at me as I was walking out the door that I couldn’t take my cake to go. I was disgusted and ready to go. I will never attend or recommend this place to anyone ever. They need to get it together.
I literally just left the restaurant. We went for our son‘s 19th birthday, and he loves soul food. I have not been to Dustys in about a year or so and I must say it is not the same. We were literally the only people in there for about two hours and the food was old and cold. I gave it a two star because it was, maybe three or four items that was good but the rest was not! Do not waste your money I would rather you cook at home. And the price was $24 plus tax and three dollars extra if you want a watered down drink per person
Go here at your own risk! I was highly disappointed! From the manager to the food!! She, as well as, the food is the main reason why I don't do black own establishments! The food was cold! The Mac and cheese I didn't even try, it looked as if it was out there from opening! Once I informed the manager that the food was cold and how the Mac and cheese looked as if it was out there the entire day, she tells me that she tried all the food and that it was all hot, as if I just made something up! After paying $72 for cold food and the manager being unprofessional about the situation, I just got my things and left. I'll never go back! It was my first and last time! I should have known something wasn't right as empty as the parking lot was, but now I know! I can't wait for this place to get shut down, that's how bad it is!! Ripping people off and I dislike that a lot!!!
