Such a great library! I went for beginners DnD and was invited to stay for the adults class after awwww and had to leave early for a dog emergency boooooo, but everyone was so fun and welcoming. Great new book selection as well. 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend.
This is my 2nd or 3rd time in this library. The staff here are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, kind and all around cheery group of people. They cause one to feel welcome and want to visit. The book, audiobook and video selections are really good. I am a bookworm and it's really nice to be able to finally get out and find a place like this to read, relax and see other human beings at a distance . There's even a nice place for little people to really enjoy the experience. Check them out !
This is an AMAZING library, curated with care and intelligence. The programming for youth to adults alike is superb. The Director of the library, Peyton Eastman, is beyond talented and a treasure to be valued by any community. Athens is lucky to have such an amazing place and amazing talent.
One of a nicest libraries I have been too. They have alot of different groups and activities including reading groups for young children. The librarians were both helpful and very kind one even remembered my son from a school event. They made getting my sons first library card an amazing experience. Thank you all so much!
Our nonprofit, Foster Village East TN, used the Board Room for a meeting today and it was perfect. So thankful for our Library and all they do for our community.
We are so thankful for the fantastic family programming, breadth of community resources, and broad and diverse catalog of books and other media provided through our local library!
Since I moved here three years ago never knew about this library but glad I do now I enjoy it very much .. very nice staff and also very helpful
Absolutely wonderful library. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the programming is creative and inclusive. I'm very impressed with the staff efforts to diversify the children's literature area to include underrepresented and historically excluded voices - it's wonderful to see a wide range of voices represented and amplified. Thank you for a creating a welcoming space for all!
Everytime my family goes to this library everyone of us ends up sick. We needed some books for school and I thought to be safe and to try to prevent any illness that I'd call and have the library staff pull the books and we would pick them up at the front desk. At the counter was a woman who pulled my books from the shelf, had her hands on my library card and on my credit card. When she was almost done checking us out I made a comment about how something In the library smelled good. She proceeded to tell me that she wouldn't know because she can't smell anything. Then proceeds to use her hand to wipe from her upper lip up her nose wiping snot away. We immediately left. I called and asked to speak to someone in charge to let them know and they proceeded to tell me it's allergies. I worked in childcare long enough to know that it's never allergies. Not to mention the last time I was told someone only has allergies my entire family ended up with covid and I ended up in the hospital from it. Something needs to be done about this place. I will buy every book we need or want brand new before I step foot back into this place.
Love this library! As a new comer to Athens, they were so friendly and helpful- shout out to Nickodemus : can be a little loud in the front entry way part when people aren't talking quietly it echoes They also have private rooms, community rooms and audible books- I love that they notify me immediately when my requested materials come in- great place and recommend it highly
