Lao- Thai Cusine
The East-West Grille is an awarding restuarant from the Zagat Survey for the past 10 years consecutively. Being one of the few Pan-Asian restaurants in Connecticut which specializes in Laotian food, the East-West Grille brings an exciting new combination of traditional and “fusion” dishes from Laos, Thailand, China, Japan and Vietnam. Combined with a traditional Asian or American breakfast served on the weekend, the East-West Grille presents a unique cultural marriage.
Manola Sidara created the East-West Grille in 2001. Born in Laos and raised in Colorado, Manola personifies her “East-West philosophy. While training as a professional pastry chef at the Griffin Culinary Institute,Manola learned the subtle secrets of Laotian food at home from her mother Phet Zamountry. Additional inspiration for Manola’s intricate cuisine comes from her creative background asa master teacher of traditional Laotian dance.
The vibrant presentation and attention to detail, including a variety of color and use of esthetics in garnish, make the food at East-West a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth. All of our cuisine is made fresh to order, and can be prepared vegetarian upon request. We are also happy to advice on the spiciness of certain dishes and that our Thai curry spices might even help to combat cancer according to "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition".
