I've had accounts at Eastern Bank for many years now. I also just moved back to the area and this Eastern Bank is the closest branch to my house. I will never be going back to this branch. My husband and I came in with our infant to withdrawal out used-car-buying-money. My husband doesn't know any of the account numbers, that's all stuff that I keep track of. So I filled out the withdrawal form, wrote down the account number, signed it, and attempted to withdrawal money out of my account. The woman at the window didn't like my signature and said that it didn't match the one they had on file. I said that that made sense, I created my account when I was young and much more optimistic about how much time I'd give my signature each time; now I'm a thirty something mother and have a garbage signature that reflects that. I gave her my drivers license to verify my identification. She said she couldn't accept my government issued ID because it was out of state. I asked why that would make it less legitimate, she couldn't answer. I asked if she'd like to verify my identity using any of my other information SSN, addresses, secret questions from phone banking, etc., she ignored me and called over a manager. Manager asked if there were any recently cashed checks in my account to match the signature to. Woman said there weren't. I said that this wasn't true, I'd cashed a check earlier that week and I know the pictures are in my account, I can see them on my mobile app. They ignored me. I pointed out that I had less than a week prior used the same signature to authorize a wire transfer of a much larger sum than used-car-buying-money to buy a house. They ignored me. After spending more than twenty minutes in the bank with my now-fussy infant I was told that my husband could withdrawal the money from our account using the same account numbers which I had to write down because again, he doesn't know them. They verified his identification with his drivers license which was also out of state but somehow more valid than mine, and gave him the money. When I pointed out how sexist this felt the woman told my husband that it wasn't sexist as if I wasn't there. Anyway, ladies, if you enjoy banking as if it's the 50s this is the Eastern Bank location for you. If you'd like to be able to access your own money, I'd suggest any of the many other branches in the area.
Extremely rude banker Susan Beean that was getting loud and extremely unprofessional towards my husband who has questionable transactions and they were very rude about it. I had an account with that branch and they we’re taking out fees that we’re not legal and I even had a lawyer look at it. Don’t waste your time or money on this branch or bank name in general.
1/28/2017 When we started, banking here was a much better experience. The bank “went public” with its shares. All that was community-friendly has gone downhill. Finding a good assistant manager or personal banker is possible. Often that person is then transferred. I have had awful experiences since what I’ll call “the big downgrade” at the walk-up windows with trainees not being supervised. P.S. No stars since I wrote the above review. The branch got so bad—loud, rude treatment of me and absolutely ridiculously wrong information on why my card wasn’t working—that I refuse to go there anymore. You’d almost think you were involved in some wacky, awful comedy show. Any of their nearby branches is a better branch.
The website lists hours beginning at 8:00 AM for the drive-thru window. After sitting in line with ten other cars this morning, we all discovered that they really don't open until 9:00. The young woman who spoke to some of us said that she is not able to correct that information on the website and they probably won't change it on the website, since they don't know when they will return to those listed hours. Is it so difficult to change it now, and then change it back again, I wonder?
I have been banking with Eastern Bank for most of my life. For several years I lived in western states, but no other bank provides the personalized customer experience that Eastern Bank does. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to feel secure with their banking needs.
Only on ATM on the inside of every eastern bank around here. It is a joke! Lynn, Salem, Marblehead and swampscott! it is a total pain in the butt. inside hours are all different at locations and all wonky lately. idk yall need more then one atm inside for people
