Dr. D is a phenomenal vet, that really takes pride in his work. My dog Maggie, had half of her face become paralyzed. After treatment, during one of her visits, Dr. D. Noticed her eyelid move, regaining function, and he smiled a smile I'll never forget. He's now saved my girls life twice. We have since moved, and the drive is quite further than it used to be, but I still make the drive. It's worth it. I appreciate the office staff we well. Thank you all!
This has to be one of the rudest vets I've ever been to. On more than one occasion they have made things hard and inconvenient if I don't purchase my prescription for my dog from them, which is $40 more than chewy. When I sent my order into chewy Eastpointe Animal refused to give them my prescription info and when I called the vet they charged me $10 to confirm this with Chewy. On my last appt I had a hard time understanding what the vet was saying to me, when I asked him to write it down he yelled at me at walked out of the room. I tried to express to him how inconvenient some of these things are and he literally ignored me. I will not be returning to this vet which is really sad becasue they have a female vet who is absolutely amazing!!!
This place is very terrible to take your pets to nothing but problems since day one they never checked to see if my dog was allergic to any medication they gave it almost died then when the time came 15 years of living, I called them up to have her put to sleep. She wasn’t doing so good not eating, walking and pooping on her self this place said we will talk to the doctor and have him call you back never called me back I called them back. They said he declines to put her down because I haven’t been there with my dog in two years. No reason to go there. She was not sick, I would always go there and pick up her medicine. Trust me do not take your pets here the worst place ever. No compassion fir your pets .
I give them a 1 star they may be good at the medical side of things, they at least kept my puppy alive when he was struggling with parvo. However, he was given to me with feces in his fur, crusty. It's clear his hygiene had been neglected during his 5 days at this place. He also came home with one paw extremely swollen, with the neglect, I'm not surprised they never mentioned it, because they likely never noticed. They took his collar off and failed to give it to me, and took no responsibility to get it back to me, even though I traveled an hour. The staff, with the exception of 1 person...I think she is a vet tech who works nights she was nice, everyone else I spoke with or came in contact with was either rude or at best lacked peoples skills. These people saying this place treats animals like they are our babies must be nuts! I'd NEVER bring any of my pets here! And I would NEVER suggest someone else bring their pets here either. What they did right....my puppy didn't die, so they gave him appropriate meds and an IV. I'm grateful they got that right, at least.
My 80 lb baby needed to see a vet for a swollen ear flap/ear infection. Our usual vet couldnt see her for 4 days. After being recommended to a few different places the Google searches and phone calls began. I read all of the bad reviews and then all the good. Ive learned over the years to take reviews with a grain of salt. Most people write them out of anger and there are not enough that do when tbeyre happy. What were their expectations? Well, I can say, Im glad I took a chance. From booking the appointment to checking out, our experience here was awesome. After a full exam, ear swab, ear cleaning and meds the cost was much less than anticipated. They treated my big baby with respect and love. Staff was attentive and everyone greeted us with a smile. Vet was great even giving us tips and was very helpful to us. I didnt see any negative interactions with staff or other patients and we were there quite awhile and heard multiple patients come and go. Was he a serious, busy man? You bet but, most people dont know how overwhelmed some of these offices are. Was he rude, not one bit. He took his time with us and was very thorough. Do yourself a favor and form your own opinions - Im glad I did. I think I have found a new vet! Willow & her happy mama
Friendly staff. Reasonable cost. They are great with my dog and I never feel like they are trying to push services that he does not need.
So I scheduled an appointment to get my puppies tails docked. Everything was good until I was running a few minutes behind literally. I called to inform them that I was running behind about 5 minutes max, thinking I was doing the responsible thing. Only to be told if I’m not there at 5:30 on the nose I wouldn’t be seen, which I don’t understand because they normally have you wait in the lobby for about 10-15mins before they even see you. Prior to this, I brought in one of my pregnant female rotties for a scheduled ultrasound. They did not have her shot records on file so they turn me around after I asked them could I run home three minutes up the road to go get it, I was told no I have to reschedule. Even though no one had told me they needed a shot record I order for her to be seen. I’ve been loyal to this place for 7 years and today they have lost a loyal customer!
One of the vet techs here should be fired. There has not been a cat with rabies in Macomb County in years and the stupid vet tech will not check to see if the friendly cat I rescued is pregnant. She tried to muzzle my sick cat last time I was here and the other vet tech handled mu sick cat with no problem. I will never bring my animals back to this place. That vet tech is nuts. I have never seen anyone like her work at a vet clinic.
Only went here because of the rescue that I got my dog from. Vet prescribed an antibiotic that can only be filled at his clinic. Asked him for a generic that can be filled at pharmacies and he said those were not effective. Each time, the assistant would say the doctor will call me and explain why. Six times, they said the vet would call me back. I googled the cheaper version and did not see anything wrong with it. The one he prescribed was $6 a pill vs 15 cents a pill for the generic. Ended up ordering the non-generic on Chewy because I still needed a script for the generic. Paid $1.58 a pill. Not going back to them. Money hungry it seems.
I called East Pointe Animal Hospital, inquiring about a tooth extraction appointment for my dog. The receptionist, with an obvious attitude, told me that they could take my dog that day, after first telling me that they could not. She also informed me that my dog is over due for his rabies vaccine. I told her that my dog doesn’t need one because he’s a 3.6 lb sixteen year old dog with only four teeth left, doesn’t encounter people or other animals and has never bitten anyone in 16 years. Before I left to head there, I realized that I didn’t have the address, so I called back. The receptionist picked up the phone and then immediately hung it up. I called back again. And again, she picked up the phone and then hung it up. So I called my friend to call up there on three way, they answered and gave her the address. They obviously have caller i.d. on their phones but hanging up on me, just because I had called back to schedule and appointment and then again to ask for the address, is unprofessional and just plain weird. When I arrived, the veterinarian-an older Indian man-came in and immediately gave my dog his rabies shot, without informing me of what it even was and without my permission, after I had already told them that he didn’t need it. Probably just a misunderstanding, or maybe they have to by law, idk. The veterinarian the older Indian man then told me that they don’t do tooth extractions there, even though I told them that’s what I needed, and then he told me that they don’t even have an ex Ray machine. So, other than the antibiotics that they gave me, there really wasn’t any point of even going there. I ended up calling another vet to finally get his tooth extracted. They told me that I should get a “Pre surgical pannal CBC chemistry” blood analysis done. So, I called East Pointe Animal Hospital back and set up another appointment. When I arrived, I heard the vet-the same older Indian man-in the back, talking down to one of the receptionists. This kept up while I waited. It was awkward for me as a customer to listen to and was quite unprofessional. They finally took my dog to the back. The receptionist that took him was very gentle and kind to my dog in fact, all of the receptionists seemed friendly, in person. Then, I heard some yelps. The same yelps that my dog makes whenever any vet pokes him with a needle. But then, I started hearing a dog screaming bloody murder from the back. It didn’t sound like any noises that my dog had ever made, and I’ve had him from 5 weeks to 16 years of age. This went on for several minutes. I stood up and went to the front counter. Could this be my dog that’s making these horrifying screams? The receptionist went to the back, presumably to see what’s going on. The screaming stopped for a minute. Then it continued. It was so bad that I was starting to sweat; seriously thinking that my dog may not survive whatever they’re doing to him back there. And, again, I’ve heard my dog, and other animals, scream out at veterinary clinics, many times throughout my life. With that said, these screams were concerning. Eventually, the vet came out and told me, “We can’t do it because he my dog won’t sit still and turned blue from lack of oxygen”. He told me that he’d have to tranquilize my dog in order to do it. I told him, “…but I was told that this blood test was absolutely necessary in order to find out if it’s safe to tranquilize my dog in the first place”. He responded, “Yes, but this is a more mild tranquilizer”. At this point, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything to protect my dog from what is obviously an unprofessional vet who might not know what he’s doing. So I said, “Just give me my dog”, and I stormed out.
