We visited here in February and we loved it for wild flowers and amazing hiking experience with our kids. We entered from spring valley entrance and found a parking spot easily on a weekend. We hiked some hills and reached sandy wool lake which is extremely beautiful. When we reached sandy wool entrance, there was a huge line for parking so may be this entrance is more popular. Highly recommended for a wonderful family hiking experience.
My son and I visited after 3ish, with our Belgian Malinois on a Friday, it was not busy, some people were fishing with their dogs at the lake and a few people walking the trails. My son and I had a nice time with our pup walking around the lake and trail. We had a nice lunch at the picnic table in the center of the parking lot. Dog-friendliness: The Park is good for dog owners to walk the lake and nearby trails there are two dog parks, the smaller one is for small dogs, and next to it is a bigger dog park for large dogs, and they are off-leash and fenced. Picnic area: The benches are nice and had lots of shade. It's in a convenient area, in the center of the parking lot near the lake.
Thanks to the heavy rainfall over the past few months, the lake is brimming with water, and the mountains are adored with yellow mustard flowers and varying shades of green. Hiking here provides a peaceful experience. Additionally, finding parking spots is easy before 11am with a $6 cash entrance fee.
Very nice little park with a pond. Parking is pricey, but not taking stars off because of that. Bathrooms are clean. The views, reflections on the water are worth the visit.
Beautiful park, lake and great trails. Lots of picnic area near to lake view. Best part of the park is lots of birds , great trails and sunset view. Park entry fee is 6$ Cash only but it’s worth it. Park will be opened till sunset. Multiple parking lots inside the park and easy to find parking spots.
This park is placed very close to the heart of Bay Area making it a convinent destination for light strolls. It offers astonishing views to the east bay hills with a distant view of bay water and the city if you’re willing to climb higher on the trek route. Overall this seemed to me a perfect place to relax without traveling a long distance.
What a lovely park to be at and spend a day. Enough paid parking. Beautiful lake with ducks. Benches to sit. Playgrounds for pets. Hiking routes. Picnic and grilling spots. Photogenic spots. So much beauty. It's an all in one kind of a park where you can come for recreation or exercise. We went on a weekend afternoon to Tularcitos Trailhead and it was not that crowded.
Sandy Wool Lake at the Ed R Levin Park is a great little place for walking, fishing and especially photography. Right now Spring is all over the lake and just beautiful. There is also a dog park and Paragliders on the hills above.
Very pretty in spring. 6 bucks per vehicle. I went there last week. All hill is full of beautiful flowers and green glass. The rain in Dec and Jan is like a magic. Just one night eastern bay area turns green.
Ed R. Levin County Park is a wonderful park for hiking located within close proximity of the Milpitas area. I went on a Sunday to hike to the top of Monument Peak, and it wasn't too crowded. The park had so many types of wildflowers from the recent rains, with waterfalls even flowing in between trails. However, some parts of the trail were completely covered by weeds and required ducking to get through. I also recommend bringing a pair of hiking poles as some areas are really muddy as of last weekend. Many people also come here for paragliding. Overall, it is a great park for people looking for challenging trails with steep grades.
