Edgemoor Art Studio, Inc., winner of the 2016 Kathleen K. Seefeldt Award for Arts Excellence, is located in Lake Ridge, VA.
Owned and founded by veteran teacher and artist, Ruth Johnsen, Edgemoor Art Studio, Inc., is a visual arts studio - a unique place where children and teens are able to fearlessly express themselves in a noncompetitive and nurturing environment. Every student is respected and appreciated for his or her own individual creativity, while being instructed in the uses and processes of multiple media, art-making techniques, and visual problem-solsving.
All students gain a sound knowledge of the art elements and how to organize them to convey the artist's purpose. Students enrolled in weekly classes all receive a sketchbook in which to complete assignments which are designed to engage them in observation drawing, to practice skills learned, and to begin noticing and gathering ideas for future artworks.
Edgemoor Art Studio consists of two semesters: (Sept thru Dec, and Jan thru June), During the summer, Edgemoor offers the highly-popular Art Rocks! Summer Camps programs.
In addition to the weekday after-school option, the studio offers Saturday morning class, phonics/reading/writing classes, Homeschool daytime classes, workshops, (including the First and Only Chocolate-sculpting workshops), and one-of-a-kind completely custom-designed birthday Arty Parties.
Edgemoor Art Studio, Inc. offers convenient online tuition payment options for families using PayPal and credit cards, and also accepts checks in person at the studio location.
