Edgewater Police Department

My husband & I have lived in Edgewater for two years now. We feel it’s a safe small city. We love it. It’s safe because we have a fantastic police force here. Chief Mahoney has made sure we have have safe neighborhoods & city, My husband & I saw & spoke with him on Fourth of July. He took the time to talk with us while enjoying the festivities with his family. He’s so polite & friendly. Thank you to the Edgewater police officers for everything you do to keep us safe.

This police department has had to deal with me when in good and bad ways!!! A couple years ago, I was in a complete mental breakdown… at the time I chose to blame them and call them names and say all kinds of things and I know that at that time in my life I was saying some horrible mean things to anyone and everyone, even if they were only trying to help… But in all honesty I do believe that the Edgewater Police Department is a great police department, and the officers have each other‘s back and they do seem to be much more compassionate than other police departments in Volusia county, Kudos to Edgewater Police Dept!!

Attention Officer Jeffrey Cox, I would like to commend you and the other officers for the professional way you handled the incident involving my grandson and other individuals at the Whistle Stop Park on Wed, March 30th.My grandson was clearly in the wrong for the most part but after all the officers diligently did their investigation found just cause to release him into my care. The police around the country have been getting a bad rap with only the negative being reported. I"d like to state that i was impressed and grateful how it was resolved.Many of our youths are out of control and the police are doing a thankless job of trying to maintain a safe community where we all should be proud to call home. Had a great experience with several of the Edgewater PD officers regarding a family member this morning. Very caring kind officers who provided help and assistance with the issues and ongoing follow up for this family situation thanks to all.

My home was repeatly robbed, my neighbors cars, yards, shedds, and mail stolen for years. I was consistently told " no eyewitness, no video, you can file a report, nothing we can do". So nice to know we live in such a crime free town. Really?

Don’t expect these small town cops to be aware of proper police procedures, your constitutional rights, or their oath to protect your constitutional rights. Their primary purpose is to generate revenue by breaking the backs of the working class locals by trumping up small infractions into big charges, harassing people of color, and trying to catch folks passing through with out-of-state plates. The only time they catch real criminals is when they luck up and manage to catch them in the act, otherwise it’s “We’re going to work on it, and let you know what we find”. I’ve known people that have clocked over 20,000 miles traveling around the country without a single ticket with the sole exception being a bs ticket on Indian River Boulevard. I can’t tell you how many friends have that “fit the description of a suspect” and had their 4th amendment rights trampled upon simply for being dark skinned, having long hair, or just being out late at night. This would be a prime area to organize a solid lawsuit by setting up a hidden camera in your vehicle and test these fools on constitutional rights, which they would undoubtedly fail.

The Edgewater Police Department Officers are the Best. I am also speaking about 911 operator...The Officer who came to my house within minutes walking into danger...of an attemped break in...without hesitation to help me...thankyou..i am in process trying to find out officers name. The 911 operator she was soo good and calm which helped me to speak i was soo scared...i hope to find out her name as well..Thankyou so much for all you did for me

Disliked the officer named binns someone ordered a xmas gift and gave them my address. So i caught him in my mail box taking my mail out. Called police and binns acted like i was the criminal and said the guy did nothing wrong really. Its a federal offence idiot.

The edgewater police department is good in my book, I was speeding trying to get to the hospital and I got pulled over I let the officer know my situation and he was kind enough to turn around and made sure we were okay my pregnant wife had a problem and I was rushing to get to the hospital he made sure you made it there safe and sounds thank you for Edgewater police officers like this one he's amazing unfortunately I don't even know his name but God bless you as water

I'm going to give Edgewater PD a neutral score for now, so I can take some time to think before I emotionally and feverishly type on my keyboard like Officer Stanger did....
