I went here for 10 years mostly because it is in close proximity to my house. The staff were never particularly friendly. They are living in the past with their covid precautions. You still must mask and they only let one client in at a time even after the hospitals have dropped their mask mandate! I brought my dog in for a quick kennel cough vaccine and got charged a ridiculous fee for the vax and a "quick evaluation". When I called to complain, they didn't care and I received a letter a week later dismissing me and my pets from receiving future care. I'm happy to find a new vet because their customer service is terrible. What a way to run a business!
With the recent illness of our 14 year old cat, the veterinarians at Edgewood were professional, thorough, and compassionate. This has been the case with all of our pets over the last 30 years.
I've taken my pets here for years. 3 cats and 2 dogs. I've never had the same vet. Prices have gone up and pushing so many new vaccines now that I've never heard of before that "are so important and if I don't get them it could kill my pet". I'm kinda over it. Yes the vets there are nice for the most part, but I can't say any of them work there for more than 3 months,.??? Edit *** after being shorted prescribed medications and the staff seemingly fine with it, I received the attached letter. No explanation - no reason, so I am left to wonder if it's this or they saw my review? Either way, I will find another Vet clinic for my pets.
Unable to help with an emergency for my dog because it had been over one year since they had seen him. Went back to my old vet who was able to help right away.
Dr Milburn is fantastic vet and better human. The kindness and care he provided for my Grandmother’s dogs was only surpassed by his care and concern for her. Been to a lot of vets all over the country, and he’s about the best I have encountered.
We’ve been taking our puppy here for 9 months and have never had an issue until recently. We brought her in for a blood test, in which our puppy was nervous about a strange, unfriendly vet trying to stab her with a needle. They charged us $100 for a visit, despite nothing else happening and told us to reschedule our visit on a weekday when they had more staff. She then told us we should see a trainer over our dogs behavior, based on one impression of our dog. After that, we had already registered to start seeing a different vet, but unfortunately our puppy was having some stomach issues before we could see our new vet office. Our visit was a week ago, in which our dog was able to get an X-ray and be evaluated. The only behavior our dog exhibited during the visit was excitement, which, for a 11 month old puppy is quite normal, in case this vet office forgot that young dogs may whine and jump and wag their tails when they’re excited to see someone new. The vet didn’t mention the trainer or ask me about it, but to my surprise, I received an email from a trainer about the vets referral. I’m sorry, but in what world is this okay? You don’t ask people before you give out their contact information? You don’t ask about their animals behavior before you decide that you know what’s best for them? I wouldn’t want a strange, unfriendly woman cornering me in a sterile office trying to poke me either. Do not come here, there’s so many other veterinarians in the greater Portland area and this office does not care about your animals, they just care about overcharging you for services not provided. We won’t return here, nor will we recommend this office to anyone. Ever. Period.
$$$$ and the staff's attitudes showed they don't love animals and the Vet you'll rarely if ever see the same one only wanted to read what was in the chart about my dog - yet didn't know he prescribed medications 2 just 3 days prior. Concerning at best.
I bring my cat here. Always on time with appointments. Staff is kind quick and efficient. They actually found a mass on my cat after juat shaving him for some routine blood work. So glad they had the vigilence to check him over more, as I had not caught it prior. Would recommend.
I have mixed feelings but would generally say that I will be sure to schedule appointments when Dr. Milburn is there going forward. My pup has only been there twice as our previous vet moved on so we had to find a new location. Vets and staff have a really hard job and most people don't know the suicide rates in this profession are incredibly high so I do my best to be polite and really kind because I appreciate what they do for my pet but I would say that the staff here is generally not overly friendly. I found them less friendly on an early morning appointment and a little more open on an afternoon appointment....so maybe not morning people. They did offer to send my records via email at the afternoon appointment so I was very appreciative. My first appointment was with Dr. Rust and while she was fine, it was my pups first visit so it was the initial wellness check but she didn't even look at anything. No checking of ears, teeth, listening to his heart, none of it. She did ask if I had any concerns and I didn't but those are pretty standard checks I would think. She just gave him the shots we needed and we left. At the second visit we saw Dr. Milburn, who was much more attentive and pleasant to my pup. He got down on the floor with him and said hello, familiarized him and helped to calm him a bit before poking him with needles. He checked his heart, teeth, ears, etc. and was just generally much more pleasant than the previous experience. I also valued his opinions on some of the regular meds I use. He is definitely my preferred choice here. My two experiences were not horrible and certainly not as bad as some of the reviews. I will keep using them, none of it was concerning enough but maybe they need some internal morale boosting. The pandemic has been hard on vets and they seem a little drained. I look forward to more appointments and wouldn't outright say not to go here. I think you just may have to be picky and decide what approach works best for you and your pet.
My dogs have had great care here for the past 4+ years. I am very satisfied.
