I'm glad I stopped here! I went after 2pm and my fajitas came out, sizzling, within literal minutes. The man was super nice and the restaurant was spotless. Plenty of parking. I was in and out in 15-20 minutes. Chick Fil A isn't even that fast.
Good food. We are from an area that has a mom and pop mexican food establishment every few blocks. It's not the best but, good. We read several bad reviews on this place and decided to go anyway. Most of the bad comments were not true. It does have a faint smell but, it's not mold. The taco meat does NOT have the texture of canned cat food. It is ground more than most but, definitely not like cat food. We both had tacos, cheese enchiladas and I also had a tamale. They were all good. Not great but good. The chips and salsa were good. You can get it topped with fresh onion and cilantro or plain. It is also reasonably priced. My wife and I are full and we didn't have to spend alot. Parking: Large shaded parking area.
Date of visit, July 17-22 The only reason for two stars is that the place was not filthy. I had a simple plate that is a staple for any Mexican restaurant, a combo of 1 cheese enchilada, 1 taco 1 Beef Chile Relleno with beans and rice along with a margarita. The ground beef stuff they put in the taco and the Chile Relleno had the consistency of canned cat food and was not very good. They used American cheese in the enchilada which melted out of the tortilla while in the oven. The enchilada was smothered in some type of funky gravy with little taste and was not very visually appealing. Lastly the margarita had no noticeable trace of tequila, just tasted like mixer. Another customer a couple of booths away sent her margarita back with the same compliant. It had been about five years since my previous visit, and nothing has changed for the better. This one will be my last and this place should be avoided. Sock
We've been meaning to try this place for awhile and we are glad we stopped in. My husband and I ordered tacos and enchiladas and they were good. The chips were perfection! The guacamole was good, although could have used salt. We sat on the front patio and had a lovely evening. We will be back.Food: 4/5
Restaurant on 290 was very convenient and had plenty of shaded parking. We ordered off the lunch menu and prices are reasonable. We had #17 chicken enchiladas and # 7 Taco,Tostado and enchilada. Both were very good. Features: Staff wore masks.
Went on a Friday night, and maybe that's why it took an hour to get our food. The food was ok at best, but the service was decent. The waitress did apologize for the delay. If I were to go back it wouldn't be on a Friday night.Food: 3/5
We eat out quite a bit and enjoy trying places tucked away off the main path. They can be unique and surprisingly good so we love to give them a chance. Sometimes you find a gem but not this time, unfortunately. The lack of other clientele can be a clue, but not always, so we proceeded inside. The place is run down with broken and dirty windows but we still held out hope. As we were seated, the waitress asked what she could get us to drink. Efficient, but we thought we needed a minute to commune with the drink menu. It turns out there just aren't that many choices. The margarita menu is limited and nondescript. A different server came to take our drink order so we asked for clarity. He was abrupt, waived his hand broadly over the menu and said, "Any of those." Hmm, ok. LOL So we chose one and hoped for the best. They were ok, but we didn't finish them. I got the vegetable enchiladas -- microwaved Costco mix with no seasoning in a tortilla covered in Velveeta, also with no seasoning, with a side of canned re-fried beans. All very bland and lukewarm. I don't recall exactly which plate my husband got but it was an indistinct and bland mix of things. Neither of us finished our meal because it just wasn't worth it. Service continued to be bleak; we saw our server one more time when he tried to take my husband's plate. The two servers stayed out of line of sight but could be heard visiting loudly from somewhere across the building. Bottom line, we can mark this one off of our list.

I love this restaurant. Just off of 290, and in between Brenham and Burton sits El Charro. The staff is friendly, and they make for an easy relaxing atmosphere. I eat here several times a month and it's always clean. Clean bathrooms, tables, chairs, fixtures and menus. The food!!! The food is delicious. I eat the beef fajita nearly every time. The rice and beans are an entire meal on their own. Cold fountain drinks along with a full bar wash the food down. I really enjoy eating here and I'm hungry just thinking about it.
TexMex staples with easy access on the road between Austin and Houston. Tasty salsa served warm with some onion and cilantro added on top. Friendly service.
