Wow, just wow! The food and drinks were simply amazing! We had guacamole for an appetizer. My friend had a creamy/cheezy seafood mix served in a pineapple. I had a fire roasted octopus. We also had the Mexican corn and a couple of fun and delicious drinks that were smoking and bubbling. I don't know how they did that! Everything tasted amazing! My only tiny complaint was the DJ was quite loud and playing club type music for it being so early in the evening we were there from 5 to 6:30.
Had a great time there for my daughter birthday. Food is good with great spices. The pineapple Mezcal drink i had was great and smokey. Dinner is a little pricey but worth it. My daughter enjoyed the birthday cake presentation. Will be backFood: 5/5
Went on a Saturday night. I made reservations for 545pm and were seated immediately by a very friendly staff. The interior is very colorful and you can feel the vibe . Live music on weekends. Their menu is huge. They cook most of their entrees on a wood burning grill which gives it that good smokey char flavor. We started with cocktails. They offer specialty cocktails, margaritas, tequila and beers. Modestly prices and delicious. Since there were 4 of us,we decided to share the A La Lena which included their woodfired chicken, carnitas, shrimp, chorizo and arrachera. Served with grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes. Everything was flavorful, not over cooked and enough for everyone. It comes with sides of white rice, beans, street corn and salsa. I wish they would have given bigger portions of the sides . Since we were celebrating a birthday,we ordered the birthday cake that was amazing. Fresh fruit and caramel sauce topped the homemade cake along with cotton candy and a sparkler. Definitely worth it! I would have given El Jefe 5 stars but the music was so loud, you could not have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. If you want 5 star food in a fun atmosphere but don't mind the loudusic,El Jefe is the place to go.
What a fun place to eat! The food was delicious and the atmosphere is dance club style. The music is loud so don't plan on having any serious conversations, just eat and jam.Food: 5/5
We went on a slow day, which was perfect for us. I took my kids and sister here for dinner the atmosphere is very colorful and fun dancing music. We ordered Baja tacos and fresh oysters. The oysters had a decent amount of sand in them, but the drinks were good. We got the bowl drink and a house margarita mango and tarmindo flavor. They were bomb. The Birra tacos were a hit. Overall, it's worth it. We spent 150 for 2 kids and 2 adults.
We made a reservation for our wedding anniversary, right as we walked in the hostesses has a grumpy attitude, we were seated in a corner by the kitchen doors which didn’t seem like a special spot to me. We didn’t have the best background to any of our pictures. On top of that we were stuck waiting for over 35 minutes for a waiter or a waitress to come take our order for food or drinks. All the waiters just passed by our table. I had to get up to ask someone to ask if someone was going to take our order. The cake wasn’t good, I gave it four stars because the food was absolutely delicious and the music was fun.
Food was delicious! We had nachos, taquito's, chips and guacamole. The service was fast and friendly. It was a bit pricey but we were there for an event "Drag me to Brunch" Selena style which was so much fun. All the staff were dressed up like Selena and they were dancing and it was such a good time. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options Parking: Parking is right next to the building and behind the building.
great place, a little noisy with the DJ, but is a good atmosphere, more quiet outside, but I get it, not gonna lie, I felt the staff was a little pushy with the, next and the next and the next course, but guess that is their job, to push for appetizers, then drinks, then the main course, then desert, and so on, but it was a good place, to eat.
Not your typical American Mexican restaurant! The menu was not what we were used to, forcing us to order out of our comfort zone. The food was delicious! The service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, modern but VERY loud music. Not a place to go for quiet conversation. Despite that, I found myself grooving to the music! Maybe the noise level had something to do with it being early Saturday evening. We would definitely go back.
The restaurant offers traditional mexican seafood and meat dishes cooked over an open fire but with an unnecessary fusion element in my opinion. Price point: $ - $$$ be aware that the prices in their website are lower than the in-house menu. The menu has very limited options for vegetarians or vegans to just guacamole, a queso dip, a chopped salad and chile rellenos, so if you require dietary accommodations your options may be limited. The salsas are smokey and flavourful, we ordered the queso birria tacos and a molcajete, appetizer, drinks and dessert. Although the tacos were small, they were filling, the molcajete came out with a wooden board that was on fire from the bottom making for great theatrics. Food was delicious as were the drinks. They have an open bar with ample choice of alcoholic beverages if you're into that, although the serving is on a smaller scale. The tres leches cake left a lot to be desired as it tasted between cornbread & uncooked flour. There's coconut cream and milk in it which made for an extremely bitter dessert that was sent back and made me want to vomit. I don't know if the cream or milk had spoiled or if I simply got a bad batch but it was not enjoyable. Instaggramable absolutely, just not for me. Unfortunately, you're not made aware of this in the ingredients on their menu, nor is it a flavor combination that you'd expect growing up Mexican and eating a tres leches cake. As far as the atmosphere goes, the restaurant has an open space plan. It's very cute and instaggramable but also very loud with music blaring from all corners and accompanying music videos playing on every wall. It makes it very hard to carry on a conversation or hear the waitstaff. Although there were plenty of open tables, we were crammed to a small table and were within an arms length to the table next to us, if you're on a date and ordering a lot of food, there's definitely going to be a space problem. I would NOT recommend this as a family friendly restaurant if you have small children or picky eaters. This is more of an adult oriented Mexican restaurant with no chicken fingers or mozzarella sticks for your little ones. It can get expensive very quickly depending on what you order, so if you're on a budget, be aware of that. Other than that, we enjoyed our meal and had very friendly staff. I'd eat here again, and just for myself personally, I'd avoid dessert. Enjoy your visit and buen provecho! Wheelchair accessibility: There's no automatic door opener for persons with disabilities. On windy days, help is definitely needed to open the doors as they're quite heavy.
