About 15-20 minutes from downtown Portland and in a quiet neighborhood, so pick this hotel based upon what you are looking for. Not close to any night life but very family friendly. Rooms are spacious but the sofa bed was so uncomfortable. There was an evening reception that had great options and the lines moved fast. All of the elevators were not working during my stay so that was a bit of an inconvenience, luckily there are stairs on either side of the hotel. There were not any non-pork meat options at breakfast but the omelets were a huge portion. They did have an evening buffet for $15, that is nice if you do not want to leave the hotel for dinner. I would recommend for families or business trips but not if you are coming for the night life with friends.
This place was priced like a Luxury Hotel, far from it. The only Luxury was the price. Old and Tired rooms, the bathroom fixtures were worn and squeaky, worn carpets. Kids were running and yelling, playing chase in the hallways after midnight! It had a large open dining hall, with no workers to help you find a table. We are Hilton Honor members, the breakfast was included with our stay... but wasn't worth the confusion. We left. So Sad to be Disappointed.
Not great. The hotel has a nice update to the lobby and common areas, but the rooms are very dated. They seemed clean enough, but it was just so apparent they needed an update that it didn’t feel really clean. The tub had scratches and cracks in the walls. My biggest complaint is that AC did not work. It ran constantly, but never cooled down. The room was stuffy and smelled musty. I set the temp to 64 because it was 74 when I arrived. 24 hours later it was still 74. I called the front desk and they sent up the maintenance guy. He said everything was working right, but he bypassed something to make it set to 60 instead of 64. He said to keep the curtains shut and keep the suite door halfway open. He also gave us a box fan and offered to bring another. We both knew the fix wasn’t going to work. 36 hours later when we checked out, it was 75. Another thing was there was no fan in the bathroom. There was a vent with about 3 inches of dust in it. It was loud. Lots of kids rubbing around but I didn’t mind cause we were there for a tournament. I can’t imagine anyone else wanting to go there with all the kids. One of the three elevators wasn’t working.
Where to start with the embassy suites, the staff were very pleasant though some of them do not remember to offer Hilton Honors rewards upon check-in. The remainder of staff is very friendly and willing to answer questions or assist. The rooms are VERY dated and in need of a refresh. The couch provided was pretty well used and the plugs in the lamps for convenience mostly didn't work. Housekeeping is somewhat inconsistent with their methods and some would live extra pillows when not needed and others failed to provide all the towels or floor mat when refreshing the bathroom. Also the towels need to be replaced, many had holes in them and looked quite ratty. For location this place is very convenient though does suffer from small parking spaces and a lack of convenient entries. The main issue I found while here was the constantly broken elevators. While this is a minor convenience issue when on lower floors many higher rooms simply had 10 - 15 minute waits to use the elevators if they even waited. The highlight was the breakfast, the staff went the extra mile each day and the omelets are amazing. I would stay here again but would for sure check on the repair status of the elevators before booking a room.
The room overall was just okay, but the bathroom definitely has issues. The toilet paper holder was completely missing from the wall and we had to put the roll on the counter the whole time we were there. The shower had a big crack in the tile and water kept leaking on the floor. The bathroom also had junk stuck to the cabinets that was pretty bad. Not the best. The rest of the room was just okay, nothing special. The pool was decent, but the chlorine was very strong and made our family cough for a while after swimming.
Includes a happy hour buffet and bar service in the evening but be aware that "unattended children" may not be monitored by watchful staff or the overly permissive parents. Dropped server implements should immediately be removed and replaced by staff. Buffets can still be hazardous. Breakfast buffet and omelet bar is included and can be busy! Good selections and attentive staff. We will return. The rooms are pet friendly with a non-refundable fee. Nearby activities: There is a selection of restaurants and shops within close driving distance of this facility. But walking to them is not an option due to traffic and the strange configuration of streets. Walkability: No set pet area, but is surrounded by grassy areas. Be sure to pick up after your pets. Food & drinks: As previously stated
We would stay here again. Significant upgrade from hotel we stayed at on Cannon Beach the night before. Our dog was uncharacteristically comfortable in our room. The bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff were all very sweet and welcoming. Room itself was adequate for 3-star hotel. Complimentary breakfast and evening reception cocktail event far exceeded expectations. Unfortunate temporary maintenance issue with boiler providing hot water, however, the issue was resolved the next morning. It’s worth recognizing that despite the sudden lack of hot water, we would still stay here again. I recommend guests bring a firestick, chromecast, or Roku, if you want to stream a service on the tv. Traditional streaming service login, as well as cell phone screen mirroring, is understandably not an option with the hotel tv firmware. Thankfully we were able to easily find some good family friendly movies to watch in the evening. Thank you to you and your team for providing a comfortable “home away from home” during our travels.
Such a disappointing experience. My family and I stayed there the weekend of the 12 and 13th of August. Our room had a leaky faucet in the bathtub, the bedroom tv wasn’t programmed with the remote and had no channels available and one of the bed frames was broken. When these issues were brought to management they seemed uninterested and said they would take care of it but never did. The only good part about this hotel is the breakfast but it doesn’t constitute a 200 dollar a night stay. Also, the cleanliness of the hotel could be much better.
I just stayed two nights while in the area on business. The location is good, right next to a mall, Cheesecake Factory, and highway access. The gym is large and offers cardio, weights, and a cable machine. This hotel charges upgrade fees ranging from $30-$125 unless you want a lower room or two beds even though you booked one king. So, this leads to long lines at check in. The first night the elevator wait was over ten minutes. The line of people stretched down the hall over 20 deep. My room was clean. It offered the usual Embassy Suites living room and bedroom. The bed was comfortable. My room would never cool off. Although, it did say it was 66 degrees so I should have been freezing. The thermostat wouldn’t allow anything other than low fan speed so it struggled due to the size of the rooms. It was warm and stagnant for that reason. There was some sort of construction going on what sounded like my room floor which started right at 8am and went on and off all day. I won’t be staying here again.
