My nurse was cute. I did have to wait until had a seizure to get the help I needed. I’m not saying I probably wasn’t a handful but I don’t understand why I had to wait so long. I think it has something to do with the sickest patients get seen first but who is to judge who is sicker than someone else. Also I don’t like how they rush you out for the least time possible to stay without a plan or anything like that. But I did like my nurse and she was very good at her job.
I went to the ER to be treated. After waiting for an hour the doctor took me into an exam room off the waiting room in the ER and then brought me back to the waiting room. After waiting another 45 minutes the phlebotomist took my blood. She did not shut the door so I could hear the conversations between the medical staff and each patient. I was never appointed a room. After each test I needed, the medical staff would bring me back to the waiting room. The doctor gave me my results in the waiting room surrounded by other patients. I waited another 45 minutes to be discharged. The nurse discharged me in the triage area where there was a chair and computer in the corner. Overall, I waited 3 hours with no fluids or medical treatment. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.
I had the worst experience at the emergency room. Went there because I was having an allergic reaction to an antibiotic that had been prescribed to me and I was feeling short of breath. Had hives all over my body that were extremely painful. I waited in the emergency room for 2 hours before I was seen by a doctor. The doctor proceed to make me feel horrible about being there for what he said was just a rash. Stated I was probably short of breath because I was having anxiety and I needed to relax. He didn't want to treat me with anything until I made a fuss about needing some sort of a steroid to help calm this reaction. He told me that I should just go and get seen by a dermatologist. After more back-and-forth he agreed to do an IV steroid but said that my IV would probably be started in the waiting room because they had no rooms available. He also said that "we might as well run labs if you are going to get an IV. I feel that labs were not necessary. The waiting room was disgusting. There were wrappers and used masks all over the floor and what looked like needle caps. After waiting another hour I decided to leave. I told security I was leaving and they tried to stop me so that I could sign a paper. I told them I'm not waiting any longer. I went over to walk in at PCHC after was treated almost immediately with a steroid injection and an injection of antihistamine to help calm the reaction I was having. The doctor I saw was Peter Husley. He needs to learn about compassion. I have never been treated so poorly by a medical profesional before.
I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. Went into my first surgery and the nurses I had were by far the best ones i have ever had. Funny, kind, and answered any questions I had even though some of them I had where pretty dumb in my opinion. And my doctor was a 10/10 as well. well to be honest everybody i had was a 10/10. I felt cared for and safe with them. definitely would reccomend
My sister passed on Monday at this hospital. She was in comfort care and waited for hours for pain medication. The nurses were not great with the exception of one. There was also one CNA named Falon who was absolutely the best. If you could clone this lady things would be run the way they should be run. It's sad. Also the two older ladies at the front desk at check in are totally rude and allowed to be rude by the administration because there have been many complaints. The hospital is worried about COVID but yet the rooms are not cleaned properly and are quite disgusting. I hope I never have to go back there. My sister deserved much better care.
Dr. Sobowale and all of the labor and delivery + postpartum team made my birthing experience more than I could ever, ever dream of. It’s been a year postpartum and I’m now moved away from Bangor, however I reflect on the quality of services and my experience there as a first time mom quite often. Bravo Northern Light for training such a wonderful staff and team! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
A relative was taken to your ED having fallen at home, deemed altered by EMS. Spent the night in the ED. Was taken to dialysis today and sent back to the ED. Hospital staff determined that patient could go home. Patient still altered. Family could not get updates or results of medical tests. Patient was sitting in the waiting room with no concern for patients altered status. Family requested patient receive fluids as the patient most likely dehydrated, a common event for the patient. No fluids given. Family told patient would be discharged. Family working and not available then to pick up. Patient was sitting in the ED lobby, not taking up a bed a new patient may need. Patient then asked asked to sign a DNR, still not fully coherent. Patient sent home in a taxi which patient had to pay for. Patient had no wallet, keys to the house, nor shoes or coat. It was 35 degrees outside. Taxi took patient home and left the patient outside. I’m thinking patient will be back at this hospital soon. Patient was just there Saturday. I hope treatment is much improved
Absolutely terrible. Do not recommend to absolutely anyone. Recently went to the emergency room, one week post op from an orthopedic surgery at a different facility. I was unable to walk because of this. I was in 10/10 pain, constant vomiting, and SOB. My surgeon sent me to the ED. Staff parked me in the waiting room and left me there for a long time before I was seen by the rudest PA. Dx me with a gastric ulcer and ordered labs and meds. Again was parked alone in the waiting room. I finally got medication and IV fluids however, was given medication that I have never had before and it likely interacted with something that I was currently on for my post op regimen. I felt paralyzed. My jaw was locked and I could only moan. Parking people in a waiting room without monitoring is a lawsuit waiting to happen. To add insult to injury, the PA came out and said “you need to be quiet, there are other people here and they don’t want to listen to you.” Seriously- the care here is deplorable. I was lucky I snapped out of it because I felt like I was going to die.
Ridiculously incompetent staff. I went to the ER for some very unusual arrhythmias which I had never had before since I am a healthy 21 year old which was concerning to me. If my condition was fatal and time sensitive, the hospital would’ve had a dead body in their waiting room. I understand they were most likely understaffed and very busy with many patients but for them to take 40 minutes to grab my urine sample when the nurse who gave me the cup walks by me every 5 minutes is outrageous. The doctor who saw me was foreign and made it very difficult to understand each other. He proceeded to extensively present himself, telling me what kind of doctor he is, where he did his residency, etc. like I could care where he did his residency when I’m trying to be seen and treated for an abnormal heart condition. I was admitted to be monitored throughout the night and had to have an iv put in my arm in case of any complications. Unfortunately, the staff member in charge of doing that was incompetent and ended up wiggling the iv in my forearm for 2 minutes before taking it out because he wasn’t able to find a vein mind you I am skinny which makes veins VERY visible. I’m not a medical staff member myself but I sure knew this wasn’t how to go about putting an iv in someone’s arm. After spending a night there with heart palpitations, my condition was diagnosed as Mobitz type 1, however the doctors were unable to tell me what could possibly cause it even though the blood tests CLEARLY indicated an infection due to high white blood cells and neutrophils, as well as a REACTIVE test to Lyme antibodies!. The staff never communicated the results with me, never mentioned any irregularities or any detail with me which I find to be very unprofessional; I only got a chance to see the blood tests results through the NorthernLight Patient Portal as they didn’t even give me any of my paperwork. After dismissing myself to avoid a massive bill since I didn’t know if my insurance was active or not, I went back to the ER a few days later because of chest pains that hadn’t improved. The staff that I saw that day was so much faster and more competent that they are probably the ones earning the good reviews for this hospital. They were able to identify that the arrhythmias were due to a Lyme-induced carditis in a very short amount of time. I was put on antibiotics right away and dismissed in stable condition. In conclusion, if you are wondering which hospital to go to when feeling unwell or are concerned for your immediate health and are not willing to gamble on the staff’s professionalism, do yourself a favor: DON’T go to this hospital. I’ve heard St Joes is much more professional so I’ll give them a try next time I feel like getting serious medical attention.
My grandmother went to the emergency room in July 2022 for heart issues, fell going to the bathroom without assistance, and had to stay an extra ten days. We also have photos of her bruises. Also, there was human waste smeared on the side of her bed, and the housekeepers didn’t bother cleaning it up, so the CNA did it instead two days later. My mother also went in November 2022, and the emergency room was filthy. And the security guards were being downright rude to a group of homeless people in the waiting room, telling them to leave in 10-degree weather and threatening to call the police. Pathetic, and what’s even more pathetic is they keep deleting this review because they’re being called out.
