This museum was advertised as telling the story of the people of the Epping Forest District, so we did think it might be a bit too much for our two small people - thankfully we didn't need to worry! Yes there is some stories and history of the area, but rather randomly there is other stuff like the current exhibition on mummified animals. For the kids, there are a few activities, and the opportunity to grab a torch and magnifying glass and an adventure waistcoat and look round the museum. The museum feels fairly laid back, which again is useful when your brining kids to visit! We all enjoyed the museum and spent more time than we originally expected - extra bonus - it's FREE to enter!
Epping Forest District Museum is a wonderful place to visit. The museum has a great collection of local history, art and artifacts. The exhibits are presented in a way that makes them easy to understand and appreciate. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and were happy to answer any questions we had. We also enjoyed the interactive displays, which gave us a chance to learn more about the area's history. My kids also enjoyed the special events and activities, which were a great way to spend the day. All in all, we had a great experience visiting the museum and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational outing.

This is a nice little museum with some interesting items, many with links to the local area. The Tudor panels are particularly impressive. I visited for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, which was incredible and a huge coup for Epping. I'm glad I took the time to visit the other small exhibitions in the museum while I was there.
Very interesting exhibits. Lots of interactive stuff to do for kids and all free. Very welcoming staff.
