Members of the local community in and surrounding South China, ME have participated in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics competition since 2012, working as a team to build functioning marvels of engineering.
Based at Erskine Academy, the FRC Team 4042 is entering its third year participating in the long-standing staple operated by FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The team has grown rapidly since its inception, both in number of members and resources. First competing in the 2011 Mainely Spirit competition, we came in first place using a borrowed robot with only blocking capabilities. Since then, we've worked to make ourselves a force to be reckoned with in the 2012 competition Rebound Rumble, as well as the 2013 competition Ultimate Ascent. Having played with basketballs and frisbees, we're looking forward to whatever the 2014 game may be.
To provide a creative outlet for the young members of the community, particularly those interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in the form of teambuilding challenges.
