The Teen Literacy Center is designed to target the academic, social, and emotional needs of ELLs ages 13-21 with limited prior formal schooling.
The ESL Teen Literacy Center (TLC) is a program of Omaha Public Schools. We are located in the Career Center of the TAC building.
The TLC is an alternative high school for newly arrived immigrant and refugee youth who had no, little, or interrupted formal educational prior to their arrival in the United States. We focus on laying the educational foundation that will enable students to successfully transition into a mainstream high school or the workforce.
Every person is capable of learning. Every person has talent and potential. Our goal at the TLC is to teach students to believe in themselves, work hard, and improve their own futures.
Referrals to the TLC are considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have a student you think may qualify, please contact Nickole Carmichael at (402) 557-2434.
