Had a great time with the family kids: 9 and 12 yrs old rock climbing with our guide Seth near Mary's lake. We were mostly beginners and he gave us a lot of great instruction.
This was an amazing experience that I would gladly recommend to anyone trying to get outside and enjoy nature in Estes Park. My wife and I did the 4 hour private session and we both had a wonderful time. Seth was our guide and he was extremely professional and helpful. The routes we climbed all varied in difficulty, and Seth did a great job of ramping us up to let us climb as hard as we wanted to, which is exactly what we were hoping for. I can't wait to go back and use Estes Park Rock Climbing again.
Our group of three climbed with Hayden from EPRC and had a great time! It's easy to tell right from the beginning that Hayden loves what he does and is solid in his knowledge of climbing. We came into this almost completely unfamiliar with climbing and Hayden provided confident guidance, and fun conversation on the side, which just added to the enjoyment of the day. At no point did we ever feel unsafe. We highly recommend EPRC and Hayden as your guide!
My daughters 7 and 5 and I really enjoyed our half day with Seth. Great communication from the opening He took us to the perfect outdoor spot for our family that had a mix of easy routes for my girls and appropriately challenging routes for me. He taught me how to belay with the ATC and was super friendly and patient with my girls. It was one of our vacation highlights. Highly recommend. We’ll be back!
Our boys, age 17 and 20, had a great time climbing with Estes Park Rock Climbing. We were last minute reservations and it was very nice of Hayden to come in so that they could climb during our limited time in Estes Park. Hayden was professional, conversational, and friendly. He did a great job in evaluating their different experience levels and helping them have safe and enjoyable climbs. We will definitely use them again! Thanks for making their climbing experience so awesome!
Back again for another adventure. This time an all day hike up the North Face of Longs Peak, 14,256’. Yew! What an epic day hiking and utilizing, improving high alpine mountaineering skills. The ascent up the North Face required crampons and ice ax on the snow field above the boulder field which is roughly a 50 degree incline then putting on the harness, roping in and climbing the crux pitch. On the way down we had to do a 60 meter rappel and then glissaded down that snow field. Amazingly fun and challenging! Highly recommend this adventure if you want a challenge! Matt is an excellent guide and instructor. I’ll be back... See pics below previous post pics Had a great 2 day experience learning to rock climb from Matt Lovas. He is a very knowledgeable, fun, and safety conscious instructor who made the entire experience memorable. We started out at Performance Park in downtown Estes Park working on the basics, i.e., gear, knots, terminology “take” being my favorite, and climbing technique. Matt was extremely thorough with safety and consistently checked and rechecked the gear to ensure proper setup. His greatest attributes are his clear communication style and confident demeanor. Never once did I feel fearful or uncertain of what to do. The 2nd day we headed up to Lumpy Ridge to do a route known as Batman. Little did Matt know that as a kid I watched the original Batman series on tv and always dreamed of scaling the side of tall buildings. How appropriate! We got to the base of the route and looked up. All I was thinking was “you’ve got to be kidding”. No way did I think I was going to get to the top. There were a couple daunting overhangs that would surely prevent me, a beginner, from getting to the top. Matt assured me I could do it and to stay calm, breathe, and do as many “takes” as needed. I got to the first overhang, mind you it’s just part of the rock that leans towards you, pretty minor but still it’s an overhang. Panic kicked in, I quickly took a rest “TAKE” and focused on breathing. Matt once again calmly talked me through that section. Once securely above the overhang, I looked down, took in the view, and thought “I got this”. What an amazing experience! I can’t wait to go back to try another route. If you’re new to climbing or an experienced climber looking to be challenged you’ve got to look up Matt at Estes Park Rock Climbing. He’ll take great care of you and ensure you have a memorable experience!
Had a blast out on Lumpy Ridge with Matt for our first full day trip with Estes Park Rock Climbing! My girlfriend and I were looking to get more experience with multi-pitch climbing and to learn more about the systems and techniques. Matt has a great ability to teach and communicate and his enthusiasm is contagious. Already brainstorming future trips with Matt and EPRC.
Booked this excursion for our family of 6, ages 21 to 58. Most of us were very beginners. Seth is an excellent instructor. He took time to explain all equipment and made sure that it fit to our satisfaction before we left the office. He explained our options for rock climbing that day and we chose to go to a more secluded place, Mary's Lake! It was a beautiful area to rock climb. Seth demonstrated all safety instruction until we all were knowledgeable. He set up 4 different climbing areas right away, so that we could progress to more difficult climbs, as able. My adult children were fast learners and he gave them confidence to progress. I got stuck on the first level, but Seth gave me encouragement and confidence to push myself and I did it and went on to more difficult levels! Everyone in our group talked about how much fun we had, as a family, learning a new skill and being together in a beautiful place! I highly recommend Estes Park Rock Climbing. We felt that our safety AND fun was their priority! Thank you, Seth, for memories that will be in our family forever!
We had a fantastic experience doing the 4-hour climbing session. Our guide, Hayden, was super-awesome. He was a great instructor, both on and off the rock, and is a very engaging and interesting person. I highly recommend doing your climbing session through Estes Park Rock Climbing.
In July, Matt Sunshine of Estes Park Rock Climbing guided my husband and I up our first multi-pitch climb at Lumpy Ridge. We had just had a pretty disappointing experience with another climbing service in town when we met Matt and we were blown away by our experience with him. If you are looking for a customized experience, with deeply knowledgeable guides that will help select challenging but appropriate routes, these are your guys! I won't work with anyone else when we travel to CO. A lesson I learned on our trip is that TripAdvisor reviews are more likely to be made by first time climbers. This led us to chose the #1 ranked service, who took us top roping in downtown Estes. We were looking to climb to the top of something in RMNP. Thank goodness we found Matt to get the experience we were looking for!
