The Department of Health Services Management and Policy is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service for the purpose of:
Providing competency- and practice-based education that prepares individuals for successful careers in health services management, policy, and research;
Conducting research and scholarly activity that informs health management and policy; and
Partnering with the community to disseminate and apply new knowledge.
Health services managers plan, direct and coordinate health services. Students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective health services administrators in a variety of settings including hospitals and health systems, clinics, medical groups, long-term care facilities and public health agencies. Students completing the health administration concentration with a minor in management and an internship at a long-term care facility may sit for the Tennessee State Licensing Exam for Nursing Home Administrator.
