One of the best Chinese restaurant in USA for me. Large and clean seating area. Staffs are really helpful with the order and they are English communication so well. Food are superb with fresh ingredients. Fish are really good also the oyster. I don't know the name just give them the picture they will understand. Street parking is ok. Their location far from clouded area in chinatown.
I love the food here because it bring me the feeling of old and traditional Chinese. The food was amazing for me. I have been to Chinatown many time but they don’t have much old Chinese restaurants left. Everyone should come here and try the Chinese food. The menu is new now, so everyone can check it out easier
Went here on a Tuesday evening at about 6 pm. The restaurant was empty except for 1 table that was seated. We were greeted quickly. The waitress was nice and she answered our questions about sake. There's a lot to view on the menu. It's a bit overwhelming. I guess I'm so used to menus at quick Chinese spots in the neighborhood. I ordered General Tso with 2 veggie eggrolls, and my friend got the beef and broccoli. Both came with white rice. The food came to the table piping hot and it was fresh. The general Tso was delicious, not as crispy as I prefer, but it was still good. The beef and broccoli were the winners. The beef was very tender, and it was seasoned well. The food tasted authentic and the quality was much better than the restaurants in my neighborhood. I'll definitely be back. Try the sake if you go. I prefer the it cold, but when it's hot it brings a quicker buzz. Price was about $60, including 2 servings of sake. 1 serving of sake was enough for 2 people.
I have not been to Evergreen restaurant in over a decade but my family wanted to come here for a traditional Chinese dinner and it was not great. We wanted the fried oysters but since there were 8 of us, we decided to order 2 orders and it was $25 each order for a total of $50 for 2! Wowza! Probably one of the most expensive meal I've had for a long time and it was not even a lot of food. Service was good but very short handed. Seems like only 1 waitress is really doing her job while the owner sat around peeling peapods during dinner rush hour which made no sense to me. Get up and help your waitress! Why peel peapods on a busy weekend dinner? Food was below average and it was just not that flavorful. For $300 and less than 10 dishes which is about $30 per dish, it is a bit absurd which I will never go back again.
Absolutely love this place huge portions very generous great wait staff great kitchen. Vegetarian options: All kinds of dishes that are straight vegetable also tofu options Parking: 3 hours for $7 at Wentworth park Kid-friendliness: Large dining area plenty of room for kids Wheelchair accessibility: Flat entrance
We have dined in at Evergreen once, and ordered delivery to our hotel another time. Both times the service and food were superb. The frozen lemonade is absolutely delicious and made with real lemons! The chicken fried rice is a huge flavorful portion. Everything we have ordered has been fresh, hot, and so yummy! They delivered to our hotel, and the food was packaged very well with silverware. We are very pleased with Evergreen. You will not be disappointed!
The place smelled horrible. I'm pretty sure it's the carpeting, but who knows. We waited while the hostess took a to-go order before she would seat us. The place was completely empty, we were the only customers. After finally being seated, the hostess walked away, and the server never came. After over ten minutes with no one coming over, my coworker got the hostess' attention, and she said, "Wait a minute!" By then, we were overwhelmed by the smell and the terrible service, and we decided enough was enough. We walked out and went somewhere else to eat in Chinatown. This used to be a nice place. I don't know what happened.
I have never been shocked and disappointed like this. Our table Server did not like our tipping percentage and came back and literally said in front of everyone “that’s the tip??, you should tip more your bill is high”! I have never seen this before, even though we have tipped 10% of the already overpriced food a seasonal single fish costs +$45!! Tips are courtesy and it is very rude and embarrassing to ask for more tip. Food was fine, not very special except for the fried sweet shrimps , the other dishes are not special. Will never come again after seeing this behavior
Amazing food and huge portions fresh food and the service is friendly. Considered the last of breed of the original spots in Chinatown Chicago.
Evergreen Restaurant hits the head on the nail for authentic Cantonese style cuisine. Classic Chinese dishes can be ordered but I suggest adventurous palates venture into their specialty entrees. Shrimp stuffed eggplant, salt and pepper shrimp and the Peking duck wrapped table-side will not disappoint. Whole steamed catch of the day could be monkfish, trout or grouper. Vegetarians and soy allergies can be avoided, ask for liquid aminos when possible. The appetizers or stuffed crab claws and crab Rangoon will delight the picky eaters. Try the Chow Fun, extra crispy noodles along with vegetables and choice of meat for a rounded meal. Been coming to Evergreen for almost 20 years so they are family friendly, accommodating and a hidden gem in Chinatown.
