Explorations is an independent, non-profit, public high school of choice that serves students in grades 9-12.
The mission of Explorations Charter School is to meet the unique educational, social, and emotional needs of our diverse student population in a safe, nurturing, and non-traditional environment.
The school, which opened in 1997, is one of Connecticut's first charter schools, and is the only charter school in Litchfield County, located in the heart of Winsted. Students come to Explorations from more than 15 different towns in Central and Western Connecticut.
At Explorations we expect students to be personally invested in their education, to be respectful and accountable, and to demonstrate perseverance in all endeavors. Students will be encouraged to develop a healthy attitude toward their school, their community, their family,and, most importantly, toward their own sense of self.
